Seems to be some suspicion on the part of the IAAF that the favourite for the women's 800m at the World Championships, an 18-year-old South African called Caster Semenya, isn't actually a woman, and have asked 'her' to undergo some gender confirmation testing. Judge for yourself:

I would.

Obviously, I wouldn't, but someone had to say it.

I'd have thought her name would've made it rather obvious.

Semenya

My personal opinion is the IAAF are bang out of order going public on this one before anything is proved/unproved.

we were sat at work earlier trying to spot a moving target in his/her shorts and theres certainly a talking point there.

How do they test this then?

I would assume it's not a simple matter of checking inside the shorts for a concealed meat & two veg, as you'd like to think the other competitors would have noticed previously if this was the case.

Some kind of hormone check?

Forget the asking...just sneak up behind her/him straight after a race when they are bent double in exhaustion and accidentally on purpose whip them down...to be followed by a " Oh, I 'm ever so sorry Madam/Sir " ( delete where applicable )

I have just looked this up, and, sorry to disappoint you cock-watchers on here, but apparently the IAAF's definition of gender is nothing to do with genitalia.

The suggestion (unproven at this time) is that she may have hermaphroditic status, and thus have been born genetically at least, a boy, but with a female appearance.

Ask her if she sometimes ever feels like crying for no apparent reason.

(If the answer's yes, she's probably a Palace supporter)

And she's just won the final, great effort under such unwarranted rubbish!

British girl Jenny Meadows takes a bronze too!
