If you are interested in words that might have dropped out of everyday use, check out football reports from Stuart Hall on BBC Radio 5Live and he's sure to throw in a few curve balls ;)

So you'd feel sorry for anyone attending school in Gaylord, Michigan, then - especially those on sports teams?!

Yep, Gaylord just doesn't hold the same connotations for Americans. There's a whole chain of hotels named Gaylord Resorts. If you're a country music fan heading for the mecca of the genre, you might just find yourself staying at the Gaylord Opryland resort.

Though it must be mildly amusing to them, given that they named a well known movie character Gaylord Focker.

Aitch now pronounced Haitch.

Not to mention Have replaced by Of as in would of.

Why does the chavvy ignorant version replace the common useage correct one?

"Lawkes a mussy" - as meaningless as all the other Lawkin about variations.

I'm sorry to see the going of "Cripes" and "Wizzo". Also, "bate" as in "Horace was in a fearful BATE".

Or 'Himmler!' as an all-purpose exclamation used by German soldiers in Commando comics....
