Wolves in for Ashley Barnes

Offer us the £12 million or so that you're getting for Fletcher and we'll talk.

On a more serious note, Gus will not let Ash leave unless he is really desperate to go. If he does want to leave, we know Wolves have just snaffled a massive sum of money, so I'm sure Tony would take advantage. Could probably squeeze £1.5 - 2 million out of them if we absolutely had to, though of course I'd rather Barnes stayed.

12 MILLION sheets for Fletcher is obsurd

Alot will depend on contract negotiations. But Barnes shouldnt leave unless he is going to the Prem. Im guessing but I think right now Barnes is first choice here. However, if we get a 'gem' in he might think again. Certainly Gus wont want him to leave.

Scottish?

Wouldn't want to see him leave, especially as we are short in that department at the moment. Only a decent sum of money, and I mean decent would make up for it.

But rather he stay.

Sell Barnes, buy Murray and get in our main target job done.

Sell a promising 22 year old, for a 28/29 year old who has never played in the Championship ? Hmmmmm.

Sounds like good business? About £1.25M per goal! Maybe I'm the only one that thinks this is crazy

You're certainly not the only one who thinks so, there are many Sunderland fans who'd agree with you. The simple truth is we need him. I think he's a much better player than many outside Wolverhampton realise.
As others have said, Wolves have money and don't have to sell, which pushes the price up further. A lot of Sunderland supporters are nervous about the coming season, and the arrival of Fletcher (albeit at an inflated price) will be welcome.
I hope Ashley Barnes doesn't leave. I'm eagerly awaiting an additional forward at B&HA, not a replacement.

Gus knows how to get the best out of Barnes and he knows it as well. I'm sure he'd rather stay with us - at least I hope so.

Well good luck, I've only ever seen him on Tele and can't see that price at all ... I'd have thought £15M would have got you a lot better.

I don't think Barnes would go unless it was a Prem offer (which he won't get yet) He's on a good thing with us and if he's got any confidence at all in his own ability he'll wait a bit longer for something better than Wolves

It looks like we could be paying £15,000,000 for him. I'd rather pay £15m. and get him than bid £12m. and not.

Madness. Any idea what kind of wage Fletcher is on? Just seems like an awful lot of money for a particualrly average player. Just comparing him to Darren Bent, didn't you sell Bent for £15million - or was it more?
