People who say "oh I don't go because there is no bar, or good catering, or good facilities, or a bookies" etc are BONKERS.

When I leave the house I dot say "I'm off to the bar and food hall, oh and might watch the Footy while I'm there"

It's "I'm off to watch the football"

Yes we know withdean is crap, but is STILL holds the main element. Albion playing football.

If it's wet wear a jacket, if your hungry then eat before. I'm sure you can survive two hours without scoffing your face.

Withdean is a totaly crap football experence and over priced. No bookies, no bars, crap catering, over priced, cant get no atmosphere going with rival fans. It really is a shit all round ground. Having said all that, I still go. Ten or Eleven seasons whatever it is, is about 6 seasons to long to ask most to suffer it.

This.

I'll support brighton playing where ever, and when we get falmer, the plastic/bandwagon fans will jump on. And thats fine because I want to share the love of Brighton we all have not keep it amoung a dwindeling lot. :albion1:

That is why every club has a "hardcore" of support. To woo others, you need the above. It ain't rocket science. My mum has come to watch the odd Brighton game for years. But she is a hell of a lot more likely to come to a nice stadium with nice facilities.

An awful lot of people still need to come to the realisation that not everyone who comes to Falmer went to Fulham away in the ZDS cup or Sudbury in the FA Cup.

I would pay £25 to watch Brighton play anywhere, be it Withdean , Wembley , Cardiff even the local park...why ?.......because they are my team and I will support them until I end up in my box...........end of

I totally agree with you.
I watch & support the Albion wherever cos they are my team & my love.

How sad that some posters who don't watch the Albion gravitate to weak & non sensical reasons as to why they don't attend Withdean.

All clubs have fair weather supporters, however, half or more of our fan base seems to be!

If just a third of these new 'i'm gonna to go to Falmer supporters' attend Withdean then we would sell out.

tell that to the bloke in D block yesterday who turned up 19 minutes into the first half with an ice cream then left 9 minutes before half time to get a burger!

Was he the same bloke who turned up 5 minutes into the 2nd half with another ice cream?

So you verbally attack me for not going, and when I tell you I go to about 40 games a year, you then (pretty much) put a little dig in to another post.

Coincidence you ignored my response, isn't it.

Living in the real world.
What's to be done?

Well...the club could make membership of Gully's Gang free, they could target thousands of Sussex children through schools and football clubs. They could bite the bullet and send them all free goodie bags, vouchers for games and discounts for merchandise.

They could increase the club presence in schools by sending players out as ambassadors and ex-players as Albion in the Community reps. They could offer free trips to see the Falmer stadium being built

Oh...hang on...they are already.

Believe me, as someone who has sat in the Family Stand for the last 5 years, the number of new faces we are seeing their is increasing all the time and the family stand is often full in a number of places now.

The club obviously have a long term plan to win the young fans back and to their credit they are investing a lot of time and money into doing it. I can see the benefits already. Just imagine how exciting it will be when they get to see the Albion at the best lower league stadium in the country. I saw lots and lots of Albion rucksacks (the ones that they gave away) yesterday. The interest is back. It's a great time to start supporting the Albion.

Cheer up, you miserable git.

EDIT - membership of Gully's Gang is now over 11,000. That's 11,000 goodie bags they sent out. That's a serious statement of intent.

Good post, got it in a nutshell

I dont care if people dont want to come to withdean, thats they're choice. If they want to start watching albion when falmer opens, fine, the more fans the better. That is only ok if every single fan who has had a season ticket at withdean gets first dibs on what they want first.

I will not get first dibs at falmer because i couldn't get a season ticket this season, but had one last season.

WEigh 5000 season ticket holders at withdean & 3000 corporates you'll be more than fine at Falmer to get a season ticket

i'm the same, i'm there just to watch my team play (and hopefully win)

I don't get those who go to a game just to moan about everything else like the stewards, the food or whatever. - I think they are kinda missing the point of being there
