I tell's thee, when Falmer opens I'll beg, borrow or steal enough money to set up Uncle Sams franchises selling doublechilliburgerlargefries in all four corners of the ground :unclesam::unclesam::unclesam::unclesam:

Make enough money of a home game to not to have to work on all the days in between. Fact

Sorry to disappoint but last thing heard at SOL regarding the catering at Falmer is that due to the design of roof, frying won't be allowed.

Something to do with extractor fans and chimneys.

The bacon baguette outlet also serves rotten tea.

It is the only one with no milk jug, so they put the milk in with the teabag behind the counter.

I'm sure I don't need to tell anyone that putting milk in with the bag COMPLETELY RUINS tea.

When giving out the contract for the North Stand would it have been too difficult to have insisted that they had a trailer that could cover all the items that are usual and traditional at football matches.

When giving out the contract for the North Stand would it have been too difficult to have insisted that they had a trailer that could cover all the items that are usual and traditional at football matches.

Or perhaps that they could serve something even vaguely edible? The catering is a disgrace and has been for ages. They've presumably been booted out of every fairground in the country for being sub-standard, and now inflict their dross on us every week. Most of the time they can't even muster up a spoon to stir the tea with - if you're lucky, there'll be a plastic fork laying somewhere on their filthy table that you can share with 80 others.

It's surely not that hard to find a decent caterer FFS. Maybe the board should leave their Portakabin and give it a try one week.

(And STILL no portable refreshments pitch-side... they'd make a mint at half time!).

That's the other thing I've noticed about the North Stand catering on the occasions that I've been there.

The queue management is an ABSOLUTE DISGRACE.

The South Stand food outlets manage to serve long queues very quickly. The North Stand hut takes ages. Probably because they never prepare enough cooked items and are surprised when people ask for stuff that "will just take another five minutes".

I've always found the South Stand bacon baguettes to be very acceptable (although I've not tried them yet this season) and the cheese pasties are tasty too.

Yesterday's Coke was imported from Dublin, and was an improvement on what was available throughout most of last season - some product of the Republic of Georgia (a nation with a massive history of mafia-controlled industrial counterfeiters), with labels printed specially for the market places of Thailand.

that's the price you pay for having a roof......................

Forget the baguettes - WHERE HAVE THE *%*&*$*@* PIES GONE????

Making me watch football without pies is surely an abuse of my human rights.

Last night's Coca Cola came from Berlin.

I had a fanta orange last year up there which I couldn't actually work out where it was from. The writing was similar (but not quite the same) as Russian characters, so I'm assuming it was one of the former Soviet States!

That's quite common these days though, the coke, Dr Peppers etc from Kebab shops is rarely canned in England.

Baguette van at the Withdean stadium

Dear Mike,

Over the previous few years, your Baguette van has always been the number one choice for a half time snack at the Withdean stadium for myself and many other Brighton fans. The crispy bacon baguette was by far the best food available and left many satisfied customers, even when the football wasn't up to scratch.

However, having duly queued up and purchased my baguette last Saturday, I am disappointed to say that the quality has declined considerably. One of the major plus points with these baguettes in the past has been the fresh, crispy bread , however this seems to have changed. Both last Saturday and Friday night, we have been served up with baguettes that were either not baked correctly, or have been changed for an inferior brand - the words 'doughy', 'stale', 'soggy' and 'chewy' spring to mind. I am e-mailing in the hope that you can check up on this issue as I hope the quality will return to that seen in the past as soon as possible.

The depth of feeling on this topic is such that there is currently a three page debate on the Brighton fans internet message board 'North stand chat', and I fear you could be losing out on many customers. I sincerely hope this is merely a blip in the quality of your product, however please feel free to post any reply you may have on the forum to quell the fears of the fans.

Yours sincerely,

Dom Symonds

excellently put - even if the team plays as well as it did last night, i find it difficult to attend if the standard of the baguettes continues to decline
