Nice bottle of Red for me. Shiraz or Cabernet Sauvingnon.

Preferably Australian (Hardys) or French.:drink:

Best reasonably priced table wine you will ever find. A simply DELICIOUS drop of red that goes down a treat with absolutely anything.

On a special occasion, or just with a few more bob to spend I would sink much of this...

Agreed. My local supermarket must have a deal with the vineyard as it's on special offer every couple of months.

On a good week I can buy TWO bottles for €4.79.

Some good tips on this thread!

What I've been drinking lately is suprise suprise Tescos Finest Gavi - usually between £4.99 and £6.99 a bottle and quite the nicest drop I've had in a while. I do like my whites dry and it hits the spot.

Not a huge fan of anything sweet - I like my whites dry and my reds with sweaty socks on...I'm not a snob but I know what I like...

Its a shame that there are some wine snobs out there that will insist you drink various wines with various courses, and while I agree to a certain extent - its completely up to the drinker...

My own faves:

White - Soave (the dry, not the sweet or sparkling). I also like the Seddlescombe organic white which is V good.

Red - own fave is Chateau Neuf du pape - although Seddlescombe again do a good Regent Red. The 2003 was excellent. carr taylors has been a bit poor lately

Sparkly - Prosecco, Nyetimber is good, but Veuve Clicquot is always a good un.

I also like a nice Rose but often get abused for it :(

I do not mind a Burgundy now and then, but with French wine I tend to go for Bordeaux's because as you picked up I tend to prefer the full bodied wine.

Cannot get into Rioja, too many of them taste like they were made in the hills the day before and chucked into bottles.

rioja is one of my favourites but must be a reserve.

when looking at them, look at the little colour label boxes on the back.
you go from green to burgundy to ox-blood type colour.

have a look at the faustino range and you'll see

Generally French for Red and Italy for white.

As I plan to retire to France I guess I will end up a Red wine drinker :clap2: :clap2:

wherever the money is
Only brink whites and tend to go for a nice Pinot Grigio or a white burgundy:love:

Does a nice Pinot Grigio exist? Horribly, horribly over-rated. Blue Nun for the 21st Century. :nono:

Thats the wonder of wine. Its all down to opinions. What you think is crap is another persons favourite and vice versa. I tried what was appareantly one of the best white wines in the world at a tasting course I went on once. I thought it was bloody horrible - its all about opinions.

Try Grapes in Worthing, South of Montague Street and near the entrance to the Marks & Spencer Car Park.

He does an excellent "House Claret" Chateau Reynier, for about £6 a bottle, which we will be having for Christmas (won't be wasting the 1999 Chateau Musar on the folks) also sells a cracking Amarone, one for the connoisseur.

Plus he has a selection of nice deli products, mostly local, plus a few Italian and French items.
