Murrarys been going from strength to strength since the defeat in last year's final, first Olympic gold and then the US open, I reckon as long as he keeps his focus he could do it this year

Murray's got a good chance but the one thing that could stop him winning this year is if he doesn't land enough of his first serves in, which is from time to time a problem. The big boys would fancy their chances on his second serve. Federer and Nadal are scheduled to play in the quarter-finals with Murray then scheduled to play the winner if he gets that far. He would likely have to play Tsonga in the quarter-finals. There is likely to be one surprise semi-finalist as the 4th seed David Ferrer doesn't really have the game for grass to get that far in the tournament.

Novak has an easy draw until the final. Fully expect Novak to win this year.

Would be delighted if he didn't though! Come on Murray! Failing that come on Nadal, Federer or Tsonga!

That's because they don't think he is going to win...Certainly got his work cut out he will probably face Tsonga in the quaters, Nadal in the semis and Novak in the final. If Murray does win Wimbledon he will certainly have deserved it.

I don't understand theses refunding things. Surely they will lose huge sums of cash as everyone sticks everything they own on Murray to win.

that's not the point? they will refund all bets IF murray WINS! So people will be betting on the others and hoping that Murray wins if their bet loses

Just lump on Djok - easy route to the final and imo his only threat is Murray

It means they have huge liabilities on Murray so they don't want to lay him anymore.
If Murray wins they only have to refund your stake rather than pay you out (if you back someone else).
It also means that Murray's price is too short.

I see that McEnroe is reporting for 5 different TV stations. That has to be financially advantageous.

What are the odds on any of our girls getting to the second week?

Although our girls are much more competitive now I can't see any of them getting past the 1st round just like the old days
They all have very tough 1st round opponents and I'm tempted on an acca to see them all get beat

Nadal will win the mens.......... nailed on..!!

He's hardly nailed on although he's certainly my tip at 5/1.

He really looks hungry, and although he prefers the red stuff is a superb grass court player as he's proved many times.

I'd like to see Murray win it but fear, as has been noted earlier, that his first serve may go against him.

Tsonga would be my dark horse.

If he'd stop doing that really annoying post-match celebration when he wins i would put a cheeky tenner on him :O

In effect, you are betting into a separate book, one without Murray in the field but with his percentage of the market taken off the over-round. In the long run, the worst outcome for the bookmaker is that they give away free money into betting accounts that their customers may well just keep betting with, while depending on the actual result, it may not cost them too much anyway.

The quality of the offer depends on how likely the winner is. At Ascot last week, one firm was refunding up to £100 if Animal Kingdom - who started at 5-4 - won the opening race on Tuesday, which was pretty generous given that you're taking out nearly 50pc of the market. But from the bookie's point of view, if you're going to put free money into people's betting accounts, you might as well do it on the first race on the first day of the biggest betting meeting of the Flat season. It's all about keeping the turnover churning.

Murray is around 7-2, which takes out about 22pc, though on the plus side, it's 33-1 bar the top four so you can back the other three proportionately up to the maximum refund and unless there is the biggest shock for decades, the worst than can happen is that you come out even. Don't expect to do it more than once or twice with any particular firm, however. It is a way to pull in "recreational" punters, not hand out free money to shrewdies.
