There have been some memorable games and days/nights at Withdean. But the answer is still no, not at all. Not one bit. I expect the Falmer experience to be better in pretty much every way, just as it was (if differently) at the Goldstone.

Its a bit like student flat, functional, serves a purpose, its near a pub, women sometimes come round and you hope one day to move onto bigger and better things.

I will but only for the fact that it's walkable from the City centre (where I live). This is my only fear (well, perhaps the lack of terracing too) with regards to Falmer. I can see transport being a nightmare as people aren't going to want to queue for hours to get a bus or a train, especially after a defeat. I don't know how many people walk to Withdean now; I know I'm quite unusual in walking 3 miles to get there, as I always see the same old people waiting at the bus stops that line the route, but very few people will be able to walk to Falmer.

Its maybe a shithole. But its our shithole and now has a place in Albion history.

Wise words, mate.

Withers is not the ideal ground but it has a certaim familiness about it. I love watching the crowds turn up and what other occasion brings people of all ages together these days?

I love the Withdean at the start and end of each season. Nothing like sitting in the South Stand in just a shirt, licking an ice cream and enjoying a game of football.

Rest of the season it's utter crap though!

Hate the place with a passion and cannot wait for Falmer.
However there is a very good train link after the game which gets me back to Angmering station by about 1745pm without changing at Brighton.I also can see the journey to/from Falmer being difficult.

I don't understand that. Falmer has much better transport links with the railway staion virtually onsite and just imagine how many stations are within 30 mins travelling distance of Falmer.

Then you have the buses, the 25's are also on site and the Brighton - Tunbridge Wells buses are close. these are regular services and that's not including extra P&R buses that may be added.

Finally, in a proper stadium, it will not close down when the games end. i would expect bars, eateries etc to stay open for an hour or so after the game so those that want to avoid the rush/crush can do so.

A little bit as it is nearer my home than Falmer & my son likes counting the different types of birds - pre match (or is that Gully girls).

As has been said before a stadium at Falmer, with no housing near or street life close will not create any atmosphere outside the ground which will be strange!

In London village.
No, it's an utter shithole made worse by inept customer relations.

I'll miss it because it was the first stadium that I ever watched a match in.

If, or should that be when we get crowds of 23,000 people, can you imagine trying to get a train when they are only one every 10-15 minutes? Getting a P & R bus can be arduous at Withdean when there are only 5,000 at the game, with perhaps 1,000 plus parking nearby. Anyone know how many will actually be able to park at Falmer, including the Unis and *says it quietly* Stanmer Park?

The rail link is very slow from Falmer into Brighton though, As for Withdean I wont miss that place one bit.

As a football "stadium", no, not at all. As part of Albion history though, of course I will.

Coming home - 6-0 against Mansfield
Cullips header against the cheats
Promotion wins
The Swindon play off game
Knocking "the richest club in the world" out of the cup
Rocket man

Just a few memories off the top of my head, that will always be associated with Withdean.

You're working under a certain assumption that everyone is going back to Brighton. What about those who live in Lewes, Eastbourne, Newhaven, Hastings etc?

There is car parking for 2,300 multiple-occupancy-only cars.

There will be three, rather than two bus P&R sites at Falmer.
