There should be two "War of the Worlds" films coming out soon.

You've got "H.G Wells' The War of the Worlds" which based directly on the the book and is set in Britain. Appears to have an unknown cast and has been in production for years. Film should open on the 30th March and released by Pendragon pictures.

Then you've got Spielbergs big budget modern re-telling with Tom Cruise. Set for release in July.

Looks like we've got a Deep Impact/Armageddon scenario.

You can never tell what will happen with these films, Production companys always seem desperate to change stories or make them more appealing to the audience.
Then of course there if the fact that films rarely live up to the original book, even Spilberg will struggle to do justie to a great story like War of the worlds.
Look at Alexander out recently and Troy two great stories, so great they have lasted over two and a half thousand years, however both films have been major dissapointments.

Dont every get your hopes up about a film.... it will rarely be as good as you think it could have been.

Doubt if they'll be able to beat the double album released years ago. Richard Burton, Phil Lynott, that music? Great stuff.
