You're right, from a pure life saving point of view.

I have no doubt that football, mostly in a very indirect sort of way, is leading to extra pressure on NHS and deaths.

But i'm a selfish person. Last time we were this locked down there was glorious sunshine and could enjoy evening bbq's in the back garden.

This time, there really is nothing to focus on apart from the football and the appalling news. I'm really enjoying having the football and having some way of blocking out the stress and misery of what is going on in the real world.

I think you've touched on a good point. Full lockdown in nice weather was not such a chore. Crap weather and not forgetting that Jan and Feb are pretty depressing in non covid days all don't help. Bottom line is that we do all need to stick the rules to help get us out of this mess and hope the vaccine roll out goes smoothly. At present my life seems a cycle of home schooling and then binge watching. It could be a lot worse

Yes - don't get me wrong, I think having footie on TV is a fantastic diversion. However, personally I think it sends the wrong message. In this country we seem incapable of doing a proper lockdown - it's always a little bit half-hearted, with the result that there are many more deaths. Given the probable proximity of a situation where 20m+ are vaccinated, I don't see why we can't all put up with a really severe lockdown just for a month or so.

a galaxy far far away
But if football adds to the stress and misery of the real world ie ICU units then we have a bit of a moral dilemma. Surely the whole point here is to alleviate the burden placed on NHS staff and victims of the virus. Our own needs are much less important.

Well ... yes ... you're completely correct

Pitch at Stockport turning into a paddy field, still 0-0 and West Ham struggling a bit. Has got ‘classic FA Cup upset’ written all over as time progresses.

40 over a 2 week period

Nothing to see here

And this is why the disease is rampant in the UK. 40 in two weeks is what got the borders shut again here and areas go into lockdown. Back in June we were trending the same as the UK, now we just get a few minor flare ups from quarantine breaches, QLD stadiums are fully open, the Melbourne and Sydney Cricket tests have had reduced numbers but still have spectators.........

Yes but that’s 40 out of about 600,000 nationally in 2 weeks here, so won’t make any difference now..........

Looked more like waterpolo at times!

Scott Parker and Jose Mourinho squabbling about the notice period given by the PL for their re-arranged fixture for this Wednesday now. If the clubs want football to continue, Parker will have to see the bigger picture.
