If we sacked him who else would we get?

nobody better is available, Gus is a fantastic professional and is changing the club drastically behind the scences.

Bloom will know that in the long term he can take us forward, and he has commented today that his preferred formation isn't working and he will be changing things.

Gus is the right man and Bloom will be sticking with him

Sorry, the internal logic of this argument defeats me. The reason why we are doing badly is because Poyet has only just started out in management and our facilities are limited. I wouldn't disagree with either. However, how, exactly, does this explain the contrast between home and away form?

I reckon it's the lack of inspiration the players absorb from the surroundings, the embarrasing stadium and just generally devoid of all atmosphere naff set-up that is Withdean. Something which isn't present at alot of grounds. Just my opinion of course

Don't get to as many matches as I'd iike to these days, but maybe that gives a sense of perspective. Went on Saturday and tonight and we are clearly a much better team under Poyet than we were for the first couple of months of the season. Play some great football at times, only resort to lumping it if there's serious danger at the back (safety first - good policy given our record) and signings like Calderon, Painter and - on tonight's showing - Holroyd certainly look the part.

Then I come on here and apparently we're rubbish, Gus got his team wrong, Navarro is shit blah blah blah... I remember when NSC used to be a worthwhile read. Sadly these days, one look a week is more than enough.

not sure why or how this thread has been bumped but really, NSC posters, look at this, as an example of how we, as mere mortals, no NOTHING about football

leave it to the pros and let's enjoy supporting our boys eh?

Because we're in the bottom four and in with one hell of a chance of dropping into the bottom division again.

Because he's forced our best player to hand in a transfer request and then decided to drop him altogether, severely weakening us before a crucial match.

Because he can't give a contract to quality players but does reward mediocrity like El Abd - anyone still trust his JUDGMENT?

Because he signed nobody of any note who will do anything to keep us up during his one big get-out clause - the January window.

Because he hasn't won a home match despite being here since early November.

Because he still bangs on about how good our players are, despite our lowly position.

On reflection, despite my earlier post, I don't want to see him get sacked. I may have a very low opinion of our players, but I am a strong believer that managerial stability is the key to everything in football, hence I don't like to get on the manager's back without a very good reason. However, the way the majority of people seem to still believe Poyet is god's gift as we continue to stumble from one disaster to the next is blinkered to say the least.

 :dunce:

Poyet won't be here by the time we get to Falmer. Be it sacked for poor results, or poached by another club because he's turned us around. I think it'll probably be the later but he doesn't seem to be the kind of bloke who'll stick around.

I'm glad you will hopefully be so very wrong too

I bounced it because of another thread on here tonight asking about our initial thoughts on the appointment, so I did some trawling. I bumped into this thread before I got to the appointment era and it was a stand out. People panicking and making wild suggestions as we had lost a few tough games.

There was also a beauty from 'Selhurst Wonderland' suggesting the bubble had burst after we lost to Leeds. Hmmm...
