The laughable nature of this thread tempts me not to respond, but I can't resist it! We are, I think, playing the best football I've seen for probably 5 years. I know that may not be saying much, but it's a massive improvement on most of the crap we've been forced to watch recently. Gradually Poyet is getting the team to play HIS style - it's taken a few months - but it took Sir Alex about four years to get it right at Man U! I really like the fact that we almost always now play the ball calmly out of defence. I like the fact that the few changes in personnel so far have all been positive - Calderon and Painter are decent defenders with a bit of skill. I like the fact that Poyet is giving the midfield a chance to gel. I like the fact that Poyet is doing things HIS way.

It would be great if we had a few more points, but Rome wasn't built in a day.....we are a MUCH better team than we were three months ago, and little by little we are getting better.

Slade 15 Games 14 Points

Poyet 13 Games 15 Points

Not a huge amount of difference.

Reasonable debate to have but we need to get behind them now as much as possible to keep us up.

All in all we have been a shambles on the pitch for far to long due to poor decisions.

We have a better back 4 (not hard, and they still need to stop gifting goals), a better midfield, the forwards need to step up a level and convert more chances. The football is much improved recently, the results are not yet improved, but have to be quick. No reason at all why we can't do it against the top teams now. Bear in mind that the record you quote for Gus includes him having to play the top teams with the team he just inherited.

Also, since it was focused on points, I presume it doesn't include the three FA cup wins (two of which were at home, btw)

Win at least 4 more home games and carry on with our away performances then we'll be fine . Poyet needs time hes building a team for the future , i can see Foz , Kuipers , Hart , Whing , Virgo all gone before Falmer .

Not Kuipers, unsure about Virgo, but Foz is gone, Hart and Whing will be gone before August, maybe long before.

Kuipers will be pushing on 38 when we have Falmer where as Brezovan will be around 33 and Mitch Walker will still be very young . Therefore i see Kuipers maybe being the Goalkeeping coach or something .

I was just saying who will be gone by the summer - I doubt any of these will be here when Falmer we get to Falmer, but I am sure Kuipers will get another year here and I suspect Virgo will too.

Some of Poyet's decisions are a bit odd. Hart on for Murray yesterday pissed me right off.

But, some of the football we played yesterday I thought was absolutely fantastic. The best I've seen in years. However, I guess with a rookie coach it's going to take time. If he can sort the home form out then I'm sure he'll be fine, but so far he doesn't seem to have an answer to it, which is a concern.

Yeah im sure Kuipers has enough in his tank for another year or two , Virgo i would like to see him stay but we'll have to see about that .

I cannot believe we are debating about Poyet's future and the drivel some posters are coming out with astounds me.Actually it doesn't suprise me with certain posters so i tend to brush through there crap.
If we were to go down obviously Bloom and the fans will be very disappointed but Poyet will still be here.
Our last few managers have all failed to turn around our home form so it's just not Poyet.I've been impressed with the way we play our football.Poyet certainly doesn't come across as no mug and there's something about him i believe will turn this club around.I've seen signs in the squad in what he is trying to achieve and once he is given a summer to work on the squad i can only see good times ahead.
People were moaning non stop about our non league setup in Booker and White and put alot of blame on them for us being shit.Well they are not here anymore and we are still struggling.
We cannot keep changing our managers every five minutes and i have no doubts Poyet will still be here next season. He will make mistakes as this is understandable being his first job.His tactics are never negative and for once i'm going to back our manager vigorously.

I don't think Poyet gave him the instructions to bring on Hart as he was up in the stands , i maybe wrong but who knows . I completely agree with you on the other half though .

Maybe.

It wasn't Hart coming on that was the problem - it was Murray coming off, who was playing a blinder.

For goodness sake, this is the voice of reason. You are meant to be more miserable, sir.

Poyet is here for the long term. We have been royally f***ed over by our former chairmans trigger happy approach to managers, but thankfully Bloom is no fool and knows that we need stability. Getting rid of Slade was inevitable as he was DK's man, but now Blooms has the right man he isn't going to change his mind overnight. Poyet will only leave when Poyet wants to leave. Hopefully not before five years time after taking us into the Premiership.

christ I hope not

what's he going to teach them.....how not to distribute the ball and how not to come for crosses - he is a good shot stopper but it pretty much stops there
