Good to see them triumphantly announcing they've cleared all their debts today.

Reckon most of us could clear debts pretty sharpish if we only had to pay 0.2p in the pound.

Some fantastic quotes in there from the smug-faced **** who runs the show now.

They haven't actually paid off the debts, they have reached settlements with ex-players.

Some of the classic quote-bingo:

"Fantastic Achievement"
"We are at ground Zero now"
"The club was in a crater - we now have foundations built"
"Level Playing Field"
"Never taking our eyes off the ball"

And on.....

Tremendous work

Ground Zero and crater? That doesn't do their plight justice. It was clearly more catastrophic than 9/11.

It wasn't the fan's debt though - it was the club's, or more accurately the previous club's owner's debts.

What the fans managed was to keep the club 'alive' as well as taking over more than £7 million of the previous owner's debts and repay them.

Tw@ts they may be, churlish though to belittle what the fans have achieved.

But they haven't repaid them, that's the point.

They've just reached the stage where all their remaining creditors (the ones who haven't been shamelessly written off by the previous administration...ie everyone who isn't a footballer) have agreed to accept (some of) what they're owed, in due course.

Your fair minded reasoning has no place here. They will always be a bunch of twats.

They have repaid the debts they accepted liability for - it is the previous owners who reneged on what they owed, not the current owners.

I see Andy Awford berated his players last night for taking their position for granted, claiming they are the only club in League 2 to employ three physios/ masseuses. It's good to see Pompey are still keeping it real on the finances front, isn't it?

I just hope the Greatest Fans In The World were treated with due reverence by their Aldershot counterparts, who should have appreciated the true honour of having FA Cup winners (don't know if they mentioned that at all?) grace their town.

Those are the same fans who belittled our club for playing at Gillingham and Withdean and for having no money ,and the same fans who knew their club were in debt and paying for players they could ill afford but still rammed it down other clubs throats what they had achieved off the back of other peoples money .And incidently I know of two small businesses who were owed and still owed money and one had gone under because of it .....Churlish ....I dont think so .Their debts had far reaching implications on a lot of people so when you hear "fantastic achievment " etc.... bit insensitive in my book regarding what regime it was !!!

Massively.

They just signed Matt Tubbs though, the ultimate fourth division flat track bully, which disappointingly is sure to see them improving somewhat. Obviously he'll be no use whatsoever should they ever drag themselves up to the third tier, but for now, he will almost certainly score goals.

Did he play yesterday in their plucky, unfortunate defeat to divisional big boys, Newport County?
