I debated the point over 6 months ago, and now two of you have taken one post out of context and questioned it. My point is that you have missed the point of the discussion, and that if you are interested in the discussion you should read all of it and understand it before jumping to conclusions.

My comment about being unable to think for yourself related to your opinion that what is safe to drive depends on the legal limit, which makes no sense at all. Obviously the intention is to create a legal limit which prevents people driving when unsafe, but if for example the limit was removed, that doesn't mean it's suddenly safe to drive when shitfaced. Equally, if the limit is changed such that any alcohol found in your blood results in a ban, that doesn't mean it's suddenly unsafe to drive if you had a tiny sip of wine. And that's what the discussion was about - whether or not it would be easier to just say the safe limit is zero, so don't drink at all.

Of the option proposed i would say have a zero limit, tiny sip of wine then you have drank too much, I know this would inconvenience a few drinkers but it would be far safer and everyone would know where they stood.
Drink even the tiniest amount of alcohol then don't drive.
Know some will say, "there is alcohol in medicines", read the bloody label first! no excuses.

Almost to a point, if I have a pint once a month, that's a lot.
But if I know I am going to have "a pint" then i won't drive.
I gather the normal thinking is " I can have 2 and I'll be alright" but don't subscribe.
If i drink, I don't drive.

But those aren't the only options. The current limit is fairly sensible. The problem I have with a zero limit, is whether there's a tiny trace left in the morning, and you don't know whether the trace is there. Of an evening, it would be simple - don't touch any alcohol. But if you've had a very sensible evening (your 1 pint), should you not be able to drink the next day? It depends how advanced the testing becomes as to whether you get done or not - 'oh look sir, we've found a trace of alcohol from a pint you had a week ago'.

Shut your face and keep out of it.
At least we agree on some things. Er, I'm not saying that comment is one of them. But I'm not saying it isn't :D

Great bounce!

Well Falkor? Hopefully he's not swimming with the fishes at the bottom of Falmer pond with his concrete boots on!

What an extraordinary thing to say under the circumstances.
