Innocent until proven guilty.
I've known people plead not guilty because they have a holiday booked and only one of them drives.

Great bounce!

Well Falkor? Hopefully he's not swimming with the fishes at the bottom of Falmer pond with his concrete boots on!

It's not an easy solution, as people still have alcohol in their blood the day after they've been drinking. That doesn't mean they're not perfectly safe to drive.

If they are breathalysed and fail, it does. It doesn't matter if how long ago you had a drink, if it's still in your system you've had it.

You have missed the point of that discussion.

You have missed the point of that discussion.

even though they were to all intense and purpose safe to drive (not to be compared with those that are over the current limit the next day).

Its quite simple, it does not matter how long ago you consumed alcohol , if its still in your system, and the above the legal limit you are not safe to drive.
Saying "even though they were to all intense and purpose safe" who's making that decision?.
Its not the members of the public remit to be able to decide this. That why there have calibrated equipment to test drivers.

You've missed the point of the discussion too, and seem unable to think for yourself.

You seemed to be unable to debate or provide valid arguments. What is the point your are making with this response?
I debated the point over 6 months ago, and now two of you have taken one post out of context and questioned it. My point is that you have missed the point of the discussion, and that if you are interested in the discussion you should read all of it and understand it before jumping to conclusions.

My comment about being unable to think for yourself related to your opinion that what is safe to drive depends on the legal limit, which makes no sense at all. Obviously the intention is to create a legal limit which prevents people driving when unsafe, but if for example the limit was removed, that doesn't mean it's suddenly safe to drive when shitfaced. Equally, if the limit is changed such that any alcohol found in your blood results in a ban, that doesn't mean it's suddenly unsafe to drive if you had a tiny sip of wine. And that's what the discussion was about - whether or not it would be easier to just say the safe limit is zero, so don't drink at all.
