The police fined a load of people on the spot, but it turned out they should t have and the CPS overturned them all.

I was wondering if anyone is actually going to face a trial.

14000 fines, every single one of them overturned? someone must have been very busy.

I don’t often disagree with you HTW, but I have to on this one.
Contrary to some evidence, the British public aren’t stupid ( well, not all of us), we all saw or heard a man give an account that had only a passing contact with the truth. The whole reason for his road trip was questionable, his admission that he broke lockdown 3 times, the absolute bollox of the eyesight testing drive.
What has obviously happened is that he and other party hacks have got round the table and tried to come up with an account to peddle out to the great unwashed in the hope we will be gullible enough to swallow it. I don’t believe many will have any faith that they have heard anything approaching the truth, and what is so different now, is we do all have a voice on twitter, Facebook, even NSC, and we can all make our views clear.

If I were his Judge, I’d be reaching for my black skullcap.

O. S. Glad you’ve rejoined the party.

My friend, if you're right I will rejoice. But this is a carefully constructed story. It is bullshit from start to finish in my view, but I can't prove it. Will the media have the balls to call out the lie, though? Unless the Mail and the Sun and the Times call this a lie and challenging Cummings to sue, they will be alowing that it is the truth. So far, I am unaware that the media have proven that what he did is in direct contravention of 'guidance' let alone 'law'. If people keep saying, as they are saying on the radio now, 'it could be argued that (he has broken no rule)' then he will get away with it. I don't want him to, but he will. Another phoner on radion 5 now defending Cummings to the hilt....'press bias....behave appallingly....you can pick holes in anybody's behaviour....just wanted to get back to work....reasonable' . . . . . .

He has to be proven to be a liar. I'm convinced he is a liar, but the chances of me voting for this shower were never high even before the Covid planning melted. The British public may not be stupid but they are nevertheless on the whole fair. I prefer physical evidence before I reach for my black skullcap, and so will others to my right. Of course they will.

Boris up at seven. If I were him (perish the thought) I would be bullish, yet contrite. 'We all make mistakes, although in this instance none were made. Now for the good news: only another couple of hundred deaths today, and we'll be announcing some exciting developments in the next few days, with an easing of restrictions and more freedoms. Be alert!'.

If I'm wrong and Cummings (or Boris) is forced out, and we get a general election - great. My fear is the 'best' we will get is Gove at number 10, and my expectation is Boris will blunder on with Cummings at the helm for the forseeable. Boris may flounce at some point, but this has been easy for him so far. I think he's still ahead of Starmer in the polls, isn't he? Agonizing (over anything other than what's in his own best interest) and guilt are not part of the Boris persona.

Anway....all the best.

I think I've got the virus. I feel cold but I'm sweating like a pig and have a temperature. I'm tired and my vision is blurry. I think I'd better go for an hour's drive to see if I'm ok.
Jesus, I must be in worse condition than I realised. I was about to set off when I suddenly remembered I'd forgotten to lob the wife and child into the car. No test drive is complete without your family.

There was also a complete contradiction with the Prime Minsters statement.

He alluded to no one in London being able to help due to "medical reasons" which he couldn't go into.

Cummings said today he didn't look anyway else because his niece had already offered to help.

Why did Cummings have to go for a drive to test his eyesight?
For an hour! With his wife and child!

And that’s without putting the wife and nipper in the car.
Quite.

Obviously the yarn he's spinning about some decisions being down to personal circumstances and judgement is complete bullshit, but it's less easy to prove than how clearly wrong it is to suggest you weren't sure if you could drive, so you drove for an hour with your wife and child.

How the hell did that transparent excuse get through testing?

From what was said he is on a number of police charges - admitting endangering life, breaking lockdown rules, suspected COVID-19 while driving etc. With all that he'd be looking at a crown court trial?

Surely driving that distance, wouldn't the chances of him being stopped by the Old Bill be very high? Something doesn't add up here and losing his job shouldn't be his only priority? This was at the peak of viruses and deaths at Easter.

Hopefully he'll be looking at a prison sentence for flouting the rules at an outrageously dangerous time? ???

It has all become a bit boring and tiresome.

The Press are just setting little traps for them to fall into for us all to hang on their strings and pat them on the back whilst they do this under the guise of holding them to account.

It's obvious that all the responses are all lies because the Government now realise his car can be tracked. A point they overlooked yesterday.

I am totally fed up with the Press playing cat and mouse so that they can keep the readers tuned for longer.

If they are not gonna come straight out and call Dominic Cummings a liar then they should just shut up about it.

Clever boy. Making himself out to be both victim and hero. He’s lying through his teeth of course. But fair play, he’s good at it.

This.

So far the tories who have criticised Cummings remain in the minority.

I am not sure that our electorate are used to seeing carefully constructed lies, delivered with conviction, by someone so drunk on the sense of their own superiority and lack of any concern about their rightousness, lies that are impossible to disprove.

This. Sadly.
