I don’t think the country can move on at the moment.

How can the Government issue guidelines on what we can and cannot do when Cummings has so blatantly broken the rules and doesn’t think he has?

There’s going to be to be so much confusion going forward now, many people will just do what they want.

Moral Hazard as Mervyn King once said.....

In a bizarre way this is exactly what Cummings and Johnson wanted, people to ignore the advice and create herd immunity.

Unfortunately they won't know be able to blame the stupid public for not following government advice if the death rate goes up, as their supremo can't even do that... Oh well, back to the drawing board!

The day of the 'eyesight trip' to Barnard Castle was his WIFE'S BIRTHDAY.

Coincidence

Anyway, plenty of outraged citizens calling R5 now to express their disgust for the appalling way the media treated Cummings, a man, let us not forget, who has been gravely ill, as were his wife and child. This is a nasty left wing media witch hunt. Believe you me, it is time to move on. The country needs this man, and there is a need for him to get back to work.

MP I voted for won his seat but the party they represented lost, not mugged off, democracy. Being mugged off is someone lying to you knowing you’ll buy the lie no matter how implausible. You all over really.

Where we stand now is a kind of stalemate. Cummings says he acted reasonably, others say he didn’t and/or is lying.

Assuming there are no more revelations to come, it’s a question of will Boris lose his nerve or will the media tire of it first?

Two questions that should have been asked:
Can your wife not drive?
Why did it take a full hour’s drive to find out if your eyes work?

Is it a coincidence that the day when you drove 30 miles to a local beauty spot happened to be your wife's birthday?

I hate to say this but the press haven't laid a glove on him. I have it on the radio. Maybe it looks worse on the telly. The problem is that if this were a court case, the jury would retire, chat for an hour, then come back and pronounce him guilty. Here the journos will all go back to their laptops and report that Cummings stuck to his guns, time to move on....

Why won't one of them ask abut the relative in London? I guess he'd say the relative is older than his neice up north and mre at risk of ill effects if infected.

No, I think he's done a superb job defending the indefensible and getting away with it.

On a lighter note, I put in my application to rejoin the labour party today.

I don’t often disagree with you HTW, but I have to on this one.
Contrary to some evidence, the British public aren’t stupid ( well, not all of us), we all saw or heard a man give an account that had only a passing contact with the truth. The whole reason for his road trip was questionable, his admission that he broke lockdown 3 times, the absolute bollox of the eyesight testing drive.
What has obviously happened is that he and other party hacks have got round the table and tried to come up with an account to peddle out to the great unwashed in the hope we will be gullible enough to swallow it. I don’t believe many will have any faith that they have heard anything approaching the truth, and what is so different now, is we do all have a voice on twitter, Facebook, even NSC, and we can all make our views clear.

If I were his Judge, I’d be reaching for my black skullcap.

O. S. Glad you’ve rejoined the party.

they drove up there to protect the kid as there were people there to look after the kid. THEN thinking that he might be unsafe to drive does he:

a) get them to look after the kid whilst he assesses his ability
or
b) take the kid out in the car for the afternoon?

.......there's some bullshit afoot

I think I've got the virus. I feel cold but I'm sweating like a pig and have a temperature. I'm tired and my vision is blurry. I think I'd better go for an hour's drive to see if I'm ok.
