Already being defended on Twitter by obvious fake accounts.

Didn't break the rules because..

1) Durham was now his home.

2) His visit to a nearby town was simply "exercise".

3) Returning to London and back to Durham was fine because that was now his commute.

:)

God how stupid do those Cabinet Ministers look now defending him on Twitter.

As John Crace pointed out in the Guardian, most members of government are not practicing social distancing, just distancing from responsibility !

This is all such bollox. He’s ****ed up big time and simply has to resign. BJ should have nailed this immediately, but he doesn’t have the minerals (or he knows Cummings has so much dirt on him that he’ll get slaughtered).

Thread seems fine to me.

That said, I have several posters on it, one in particular, on ignore. Why not just ban the silly billies from this thread? You have the technology.

The main silly billy is now. We do have lives you know. Unlike him :lolol:

Number 10 insisted the Durham police didn’t speak to the family, but Durham police have now confirmed they spoke to Mr Cummings Snr.

No doubt that Dominic's little road trip is THE main talking point this weekend, aside from the virus itself.

But to keep this thread on NSC please can contributors refrain from (a) making it a re-run of the Brexit thread, and (b) turning it into a debate on who may be racist and who isn't.

Otherwise, it will have to be closed.

That's it really. Please feel free to call me a knob here or via PM. Cheers.

You are not a knob clearly, but are clearly wrong on this point.

The Brexit line was used by Cummings himself when questioned outside his house today by reporters.

He attacked them as being as wrong about Brexit as they were about him resigning over his lockdown breach.

If Cummings can't talk about an alleged lock down breach without referring to Brexit then you shouldn't expect others not to do so on here.

You are a moderator, not the chair of a meeting.

Sorry.

I sincerely hope he does, and he should, but he won't, not in a million years

No I have no opinion of him at all but this is over the top. He hasnt gone on holiday or to see friends. Him and wife both showing symptoms and have a 4 year old. Priority if go down with virus is to have somebody to look after child so go to relative in Durham.
I have not travelled more then 2/3 miles during lock down but would also drive hundreds of miles to see a close relative if they needed my help.

I'm so ****ing angry about this. I live with the 'one rule for us stuff' but it's the way the shameless, useless, yes men/women cabinet have no integrity and tweet their support. Have they no shame? What would Dom have to do for them to say 'hang on Dom this isn't right'? Let's hope no other news pushes this into the background. As other posters have said the sacrifices people have made is unbelievable and what he has done is so dangerous for people flouting the rules.

If he doesn’t the entire process of lockdown/social distancing as a United country falls apart

Three “experts” who have all ignored advice and gone out and about, what do they know about the danger of this virus that the rest of us don’t?

Papers have played a blinder

Wait till the bullshit excuses to come out all then, then boom - second story

I think the lesson here is this. You can be as politically in-tune with your natural partners in the media as you like, but if you treat them all with contempt and act like a **** at every turn, at some point they will kill you. I'm looking forward to seeing the shit hit the fan. I am still not convinced Boris can survive without him, though. It's a shame that labour still have that soppy old pillock Corbyn in charge, and don't have a proper decent leader who.....

His wife’s brother lives just a few streets away.
They went to Durham, back to London and then to Durham again.

I don’t think anyone has said his parents needed help, although the first visit did coincide with his mother’s birthday.

I think the press will keep digging until they strike gold. His days are numbered and once his number is up, so will Boris’s.
What he did was unforgivable to the millions who are sticking to the rules and a ticket to those who don’t give a s**t.
