It's sad that he's leaving but I guess it was inevitible that it was going to happen one day from the moment he took the managers job, He was either going to move on to better things or get the sack at some point. I think our youth set up will suffer in the long run though.

I think this heaps presure on Micky Adams to hit the floor running next season.

If we get off to a slow start, Adam, and Knight will come under a lot of pressure.

Wilkins left us one place of the play offs last year, and the team was going forward. Micky surely has to deliver at least a play off spot next season or will be seen as a failure.

A big mistake by Dick Knight. One I think he may come to regret

agreed - 7th place at the least if this isnt to be seen as a backwards step. something i fear it might well be

Good luck Dean - you will do well in all you do so you won't need much luck - Dick Knight has made the biggest mistake doing what he has done - we had a good manager and coach but most of all a decent bloke who people and most importantly the club could trust - shouldn't even use the word trust and dick knight together - they just don't go - lets just hope that this dosen't come back to haunt us - all the best dean - see you at falmer when a certain person F**cks off

Only time will tell whether Knight has made a mistake. How can you be so sure? I don't think anybody has suggested DW is not a decent bloke, but this has absolutely no relevance whatsoever.

Oh, and by the way, let's just consider trust for a moment. Dick Knight has spent several million pounds of his own money keeping this club alive over the last decade, when all the other would-be financiers have kept their wallets firmly in their pockets. I have more trust in DK and his judgement than any other chairman in my lifetime, and that includes Bamber.

I think you may find that yes Dick has out money into the club but the Blooms have been putting loads in for years - Dick isn't that loaded - not compared to the Blooms

As one door closes , another opens , so it wont be too long before DW is back in the "game". Why is Dick taking all the flak as there are other members on the Board who might have influenced his departure ? As chairman of a business he is making commercial decisions that surely need the support of the board members. At the end of the day , if DK hadn't stepped in and saved us , we would have ended up going bust and playing at the very bottom of the football pyramid.

Hardly a surprise. A bit twattish by the club really, and to lose him as a youth coach is potentially a disaster.

Yes a total diaster in the making, the club I feel is about to implode, I've already decided to bin my season ticket when it turns up so that I can avoid the CRUSHING disappointment that is sure to befall me if I continue in the folly that is supporting Brighton & Hove Albion.

FFS, why have a reaction when you can have an overreaction.

For the record, I was very disappointed that Wilkins got the boot (for that is what he got to all intents and purposes) as I felt he did a great job last season. However replacing him with Mickey Adams is hardly an irresponsible act. Wilkins leaves the club with a legacy of some great young players, and he is to be applauded and appreciated for that. Still it appears his trues strengths lay in being a coach rather than a manager, two entirely different disciplines. I'm sure deano can get another coaching spot somewhere else and good luck to him. IMHO the sensible thing for him to do was to seek a good severance and move on.

But this does not mean that the motives of those charged with making the TOUGH decisions at this football club should be questioned. They acted for a reason and I back their judgement. I'm not privy to all the facts of this case, but our SUCCESS over the past 10 years seems to suggest they are right more times than they are wrong and I am prepared to keep my toys firmly in the pram and look forward to season 08 - 09. Bring on Crewe .

Good luck Dean, and thanks for all you did. You coaching skills are superb, and you geniunely brought better football to the club, and your legacy deserves to live long.

However, if your behaviour means you are ultimately working against the club, I'm afraid this sort of shit is likely to happen.

I thought this story might drag the bringer of The Truth out.

We're still waiting for that by the way. I don't suppose you feel like telling us? Thought so.

Nice piece of libel by the way.

Please may i ask how he worked against the club exactly - kept them up in his first part season and led us to 7th last season (even with interference at christmas)

So has Dick. He just doesn't advertise that fact.

And he is still the largest shareholder in the club. He can still outvote Ray AND Tony Bloom.

True he is the larger shareholder but the Blooms are the one with the cash - not Dick - just what i have been told by a friend of the Blooms so should be right

As has been alluded to on here several times, he was NOT sacked because of his coaching abilities.

The decision was very probably made in January. Where we finished in the table was going to be largely irrelevant. If we'd got promotion, it may have been different, but we didn't, so we won't know.

Oh do you mean following the Dean Hammond situation when it came out that Dick Knight didn't really rate him as a player and if he didn't go he could rot in the reserves

Dick Knight has well and truly F*cked me off over the sacking of Wilkins and i can only imagine that Dk and Sir Mickey are Masons because what the F*ck was going through Knights head to sack a man who devoted 20 years to this/his club and then give him the bullet when he was undoubtedly improving and looking forward to taking and leading the Albion out at Falmer.

I can only pray i don't bump into Knight in the next 6 months because i feel it will take me that long to cool down over this.

Good Luck Deano i am gutted for you and can not imagine what you feel like - I am sure you will do well.

Ps. Never trust a man with a beard.

So what if they have more available funds? What does that have to do with anything?

Christ........................how thick are you....??

DK may be the largest shareholder....(worthless shares I imagine too), but the Blooms have put far more money into the club (through loans etc) than DK.

I don't think we know whether the Blooms have put in more money than DK or whether, as you allude to in your post, the Blooms' money is in the form of loans or not. The original point was that Knight has put his money into the club with little or chance of getting it out again. In my book, that speaks volumes about his commitment and is in stark contrast to other chairmen we've had. He doesn't deserve the flack he gets on here for taking a difficult decision, especially one that the sensible majority believe will prove right in the long term.
