Why is the Ticket Office telling me it is CLOSED?

They don't have the room / facilities / capabilities to cater for more staff without a complete overhaul of that section. There's only two terminals in there. Until that happens, it's always going to be like this.

But why post the gripe on here? Why not let Ian Green or Kevin Keehan know and get them to change the message? What can NSC do about it?

Come on, out with it, do you get paid by the club?

(I know, I know, I'm turning into Dwayne. Actually thinking about it Dwayne's been a really cool guy every time I've met him...)

The marketing department needs to gets their shit together and pretty damn quick imho, what is the problem of airing the problem and grievance on an internet fans forum ??? , or should we just sencor anything that is slightly critical of the club. I love Dick Knight and have met him a few times but would have no problem saying to his face " Dick, you cocked up the fa cup tickets and the marketing department is shit " . I think Dick is the sort of bloke who would take prefer criticisms rather than yes men all the time.

The club is doing a good job in alienating their most loyal fans and the moment.

Precisely my thoughts at present with BHAFC - the running of this club at present is a shambles

Well, I DON'T KNOW. Perhaps the engaged tone just reverts to the pre-recorded message. I was only telling you that it was good to see the Ticket Office busy. Besides, if you're a Brighton fan who regularly buys tickets on a Saturday, you'll know that that information is wrong. Blimey.

Why are there always people prepared to defend the club when it's quite obvious they need a boot up the arse!! It's been going on for years, I remember the supporters clubs defending Bellotti for a long time when it was obvious that things weren't quite right with his involvement.

I'm a Brighton fan and I've got no idea what time the ticket office is open. If I had rung up this morning and got a message telling me the ticket office was closed then I would have assumed it was and not bothered with going to the game. When the club is desperate for money it can't afford to turn easy cash down. To use the excuse that there are not enough staff is inexcusable. There must be hundreds of kids out there desperate for a part time job who cost 5 quid an hour maybe?

As long as I can remember the marketing at the club has been poor but surely now that we don't have a regular decent income it's massively important that we are not passing up easy bucks.

What it will be is a button on the phones that is called 'night service' this will stop calls coming through to the office and give callers a "out of hours" message. Very school boy error by the club :nono:

and you'd think the club would reliase that the phone lines were exceptionally quiet for a match day and might investigate why they aren't getting calls?

It's precisely because we know that the club is trying its best that people defend them. Defending Bellotti was something altogether different.

They obviously made a mistake with this. LB says this could be costing as a lot of money. Roz says it may well be a one-off. Who knows? Well actually the great and good of NSC - who have obviously never made a mistake at work (!).

It's not much of an issue in my book. Kepp ringing and when you get through inform them of their mistake. They can then rectify it. If you don't fancy doing that, you are obviously free to come on here and slag them off. Just as no doubt your colleagues slag you off behind your back.

All fair points - the marketing departement does still need a kick up the backside.

But regarding the text in red, no-one FORCED you to bury your head in the sand. That information has always been available on the website for yonks, it's in the club programme, and the news part of the site when they announce ticketing arrangements, and when they email out promotions.

How else would you like to be told? Carrier pigeon? Semaphore? Smoke signals?

The trouble is - you don't want a Marketing Department running your Operations. You want someone who knows something about lean, efficient and effective business processes.

That's a very stupid argument.

I don't know the shop opening hours because I've never needed to know, I don't go out out of my way to find out the opening hours for places in case I ever might require something from there one day.

If I wanted to buy a ticket for todays game I would ring up the club. I wouldn't look online/in the programme to check to see if the shop was open as I'm sure the majority of people who have lives away from their computers would do. If then I was told the shop was shut then I would assume that it was.

You run a retail outlet don't you? Have you got an answer phone message saying you're shut when your shop gets busy?

Some years ago I phoned the club when we were at The Goldstone about tickets and the phone was answered by Johnny Crumplin.

On a Friday afternoon/Saturday morning when you would expect the enquiries for tickets to the match that week to be at the peak would it not be possible to get one of the youith/reserve team [players who are not involved that weekend to answer the phone if only to say' thank you for calling I am not able to issue your tickets but I will put you on hold until a member of the staff who is, becomes free I would hope that it will only be a couple of minutes'.

How about the club embark on a little cross training and get one or two of the lazy fuckers standing around chatting in the main shop to actually answer the phone now and again?
I totally agree , this is not the first time it has happened on a matchday. What's happened to the "All hands on deck philosophy" that should normally kick in ? The problem of the ticket sales point is perhaps only having 2 terminals. The club needs to expand on this to protect potential revenue. Why dont the club bring extra people in on a home matchday - a telephone booking service doesn't physically have to be there. A "call centre" can be set up without having office space because call handlers can work from home. Quite easy to do , answer the phone , input info onto a pc screen and voila you've made a sale. Tickets and receipt printed off centrally at the ticket office for pick up or tranferred to Withdean pick up point. Has anybody at the club thought of using an intranet as a temporary measure before we get to Falmer ?
p.s. this would never of happened in Ron Pavey's era . He knew how to organise things at the Goldstone.

I was in the club shop at around 14:30 this afternoon when two kids came in and asked if they could buy tickets for today's game. "Only if you can to somewhere with the internet and do it that way" was the reply. :lolol: :lolol:

That is pathetic really.

If the shop is open, surely they could keep a few behind the till and write down someones details, just in case!
