Why is the Costa bus so expensive?

Why do people pay extortionate prices for a "day out" stuck in a cramped coach with no alcohol?

And where does the money go? Surely the coach/driver hire and fuel is covered by a full coach to Leyton Orient, for example?

£30 to Walsall! Liz Costa probably makes more on a Saturday afternoon than Bill Gates!

I appreciate it has its use as a 'last resort', but generally speaking, why do people do it?

Feel free to run you own alternative service. Post your prices for Scunny on here when you've done your research and sums. Thanks.

Just far enough away from LDC
Liz and I have not always seen eye to eye but I will defend her fully on this.

The coaches are not run as a profit making exercise. The operate at cost and that cost includes things like insurance if the match gets called off when you are on your way there (you get a refund), and any injuries those travelling may incur. Some games sell out and others dont - every coach hire (and there is at least one coach to EVERY away game) is a risk.

But feel free to get out, book a coach for every game next season, try and sell spaces, organise the logistics (food drink, police escort at some grounds, nearby parking etc) and then see how you do.

There was a good guy on NSC a few years ago who did this to a lot of games but he caught a cold a few times on it.

As for drinking - coaches to and from football matches are by law alcohol free. There are some coaches who will ignore that and that is there choice. I have seen some coaches searched and turned back because of it.

So the service is there, you may choose to use it or you may not but at least there is a choice.

I'm not knocking the service, but from my ignorant view it does seem a lot of money for a lot of games that could be done cheaper on the train, and it baffles me as to why people prefer the coach.

I took the Bingo Bus to QPR a few years back. Unfortunately I unwittingly sat in one of the "regulars" seats (packed lunch, bobble hat, scarf down to his knees) - he looked at me like I'd indecently assaulted his sister.

I moved.

So you're aiming your vindictiveness and spite on someone who gives up their free time to help others now are you?

Someone who, not only organises coaches to various away games but someone who has put so much into following the Albion and fighting for our cause over the years.

It must mean that you've become bored of launching personal and unconstructive attacks on players now?

Because they`re not clued up enough, to get on and off a Choo Choo Train. Also, they probably dont drink.

If a fairly light-hearted remark comparing an old lady who runs the Albion supporters club with the richest man in the world is vindictive and spiteful then it's you that there's really something quite wrong with.

I went to Walsall on it as only decided I was going on Monday.

My cheque for 2 tickets was payable direct to the bus company, same price as the train but our mates who went by train also had the costs of a B&B because you couldnt get home after the game.

It serves its purpose of getting you to the game and back, even had time for a few pints in the Saddlers Social Club on Tuesday.

If you think you can do it better and cheaper then go ahead and do it. We used to run a minibus and occassionaly a coach to away games, but its so much hassle doing the bookings, making sure people turn up.

We now for 99% of the away games go by train. In fact just booked up Huddersfield today. I prefer the train as usually quicker, we get there for a few hours before kick off for a pint or two and you can move around more on the train journey compared to a coach (or car).

I dont see why people have to knock somebody who has done a hell of a lot more for the club than they ever have. The coach is not my prefered method of transport, but I dont knock those that go on it. I would say the same about driving to games, its not for me, but thats probably how the majority do get to games.

Is there anything ever that people dont moan about connected with the Albion at the moment. I am sure the day we move into Falmer people will still find something to complain about!

I would imagine some people have no car,and find the train even more expensive,or like the idea of not having to change at stations and negotiating the underground ?
