You do know i am talking about sir Michael Parkinson?

I am aware of that. How much is he worth then? how much will he have to pay in tax? Is anyone in his family ill and need expensive treatment? Does have a prostitute habit? How much does it cost to run his properties?

Hither (sometimes Thither)
I suppose sometimes you need to be greedy to get there in the first place, and once you are i doubt ambition and the competitive hunger for more suddenly dies in you. You'll probably have stepped up and away from the people you were once surrounded by, a number of them perhaps no longer a challenge, and now the new people around you both in business and the sorts of caged-in avenues you live will have new habits and accessories that may outclass yours and the competition starts all over. That won't be the case with everyone, but is probably with some. Managing friendships with those of vastly different incomes must be tricky. The friendship would have to be incredibly strong to forgive and ignore the clearly different lifestyles on display and remain interesting at all. The distance will inherently grow, i think.
I suppose it's best not to consider the rich so naturally evil, just because they're different from the rest of us now.

Under the Police Box
I've seen many a documentary/program with such people and how the public perception of them is somewhat eschewed it would seem.

Most of them seem not to have a lot of money as most of it goes into the upkeep of hereditary lands. A lot of the places always seem to be half run down due to them not having the revenue to keep them up kept.

These people often foot the bill for keeping the nations historical past standing.

To the culturally bereft this might not seem important, but it'd be nice for future generations to be still able to visit many of these heritage listed places wouldn't it?

THIS!
This is the classic confusion between Cash-rich and Asset-rich. In the last 100-150 years most of the "landed gentry" have moved from cash-rich to cash-poor and that's why so many stately homes have been moved from private ownership, pimped out as amusement parks or just fall into disrepair.

Are you suggesting i am pre judging Sir Michael?

His talents earned him that money.

Are you telling me if you painted a painting and someone offered you $100 million for it you'd turn around and say nah, it's only worth $1000 that'll do me?

No i am not telling you that.

"Somebody like Phil Knight, the founder of Nike. The guy is worth $10.3 billion. How much more do you need? If you made a billion less you could lift millions of people out of poverty.

Oh yeah they all proclaim to be not doing it for the money well take Rory Mcilroy just this week signing a deal with Nike worth £150 million, hes abandoned everything that got him to world number one to sign that deal, hes already very wealthy, lets see how he gets on with his new clubs, not for the money my arse.

If Rory McIlroy already has a pile of cash then Nike won't get him for a tenner, or even ten million. They need to pay him enough money for him to do whatever it is that they want him to do, to the best of his abilities. And yes it's relative and I know you'd do it for a fraction of that, but the whole point is that Nike don't want you, they want him, and they believe they will make money even though that's what they're prepared to pay him.

As to how he'll do with the new clubs, I'm just guessing here but perhaps he spent some time playing with them before signing up to use them exclusively for 10 years? 'cause let's face it now that he has the money he won't give a shit about his world number 1 ranking will he?

Do you think he actually has $10.3 billion sitting in a bank? You tell me how cash rich he actually is.

Have you not thought that his wealth is actually in the shares within the company?

If so how does he all of a sudden shed a lazy billion to do as you say?

So you think he is doing it for the money? he said he is not playing golf for the money.

The switch from titleist to Nike clubs has been acknowledged as a bad move for his game.

The greed never dies, even when f***ing the whole country for it.

No I'm just saying that if someone approaches him with a business proposition they will have to renumerate him appropriately, and that's relative to how much money he already has (as far as he's concerned, I would imagine).

Rory said this did he?

Communism vs capitalism ?

If you've worked damn hard to accumulate your wealth, probably in no rush to flutter / give it away [not sure this is necessarily greed mind].
If you haven't got anything much of value, happy to share it with anyone.

Not necessarily, he will more than likely put the same shafts he is currently using in the Nike heads, so it is only the head that is different. He could actually use Titliest heads with no markings... Keep the same woods and put Nike head covers on again with no markings on the heads.. It does happen, quite a lot!

Sorry for going off-topic.

I am sure though that the ex Labour Leader and British Prime Minister must be finding a way to pay all his taxes though???
