[Football] Why is Illegal Streaming So Popular

Silly question (probably), but what's the difference between that and a dodgy stream - is it legal to watch? - is the quality any better?
I'm not fussed by anything other than the Brighton games, and plenty of sites available for *cough* other interests.

Quality is far better than a 'dodgy' stream. There's zero pop-ups, you just get a choice of various overseas streams to choose from on quite a professional Sky-style menui system. Some streams are better than others, but its not difficult to find a decent HD stream with UK commentary.

TBF free HD streams are now the standard and the vast majority of matches play without any issues. Adblock takes care of the popups.

I'm not sure of the current costs, but, according to a piece in the Manchester evening news in 2021, it costed a UK viewer £27 sky subscription plus an extra £58 for combined sky sports and bt sport packages per month. For 128 sky sports games and 52 bt sport games.

Add to that £80 a year for Amazon prime and their 20 games.

That makes £1100 a year to watch 200 out of the total 380 matches.

How much of that cost is BT, Sky, Amazon mark up?

As the premier League produces its own broadcast media, they could market directly to the consumer.

I'd happily pay the same £1100 for access to all the 380 matches direct from the Premier League Productions, via a netflix style portal.

Surely that would benefit both the clubs and the consumer. We get to view all of the matches and each club getting a split of the increased revenue?

Looks like the Premier League might be planning to do the obvious thing and cut out the middlemen.

I don't think its a money thing for a lot of people on here, my friend can't get to see Brighton most Saturdays and away games in the evening but he can watch the games at work or elsewhere. He said if he could pay to watch the lads when he can't get to games he would be happy to do so. He is not taking any revenue away from the club as he cant go anyway.

For me personally I have mobility issues and can't get out of the house so i wouldn't be able to go anyway so i feel i'm being penalized by not having the option to watch televised games. Obviously i have no idea how to stream.

Same. I think you should be able to stream games that have sold out but I do think that would have an impact on lower division crowds. Which I belive is the reason they don't televise 3pm games

I have very little interest in watching football apart from Albion so I stream away games. Very good streams for last two games and even found the Japanese commentary against Bournemouth amusing.

To you knowledgeable people out there. Apart from commercial premises has any private person ever been prosecuted for watching a stream. ? Have friends who will not stream because concerned might mess there computer up. Has anybody had trouble with computer after streaming. During years of streaming only adverse thing on mine is very occasional porn site appearing which I have had no problem in removing

Albion and Union...I found a NowTV HK stream for the Bournemouth game, Murray co- commentary but all captions Cantonese which is fine if you know your 安斯素 from your 安達夫...watching Royale USG's domestic games legally in the UK is much easier, via Eleven Sports for €3.49 or Mola free for some of the games.

4K streams. Anyone watch on a 4K firestick and is the picture in UHD/4K. I know there is a feed labeled 4K.
On the subject of cost and paying Sky/EPL. I understand it's £120 a year for IPTV & VPN. As such this would be my limit to pay for every EPL game.

I haven’t understood for a while now why the PL don’t do this. The US have been doing it for a long time, fairly easy to build out the technology or partner to do it.

I would happily pay to see all our games but I can’t, so I listen on the radio instead. I am interested in other games but would never pay to view. In fact I don’t pay to watch any sport, except BHA. I am a willing customer but the service isn’t available, so I don’t pay anything.
