[Football] Why is Illegal Streaming So Popular

£50 a year for IPTV. I get more than my monies worth inside a month with that, its superb. All the football, all the Albion games, all the PPV boxing events, plus Apple, Disney+, filth etc etc and a library of about 6,500 films including the latest ones, some still on at the cinema. All in HD. I'm into my 3rd year of IPTV now, wouldn't be without it.

I DO still subscribe to Sky Sports though, mainly because of the excellent Sky Go. I likes getting it on my laptop innit.

Would it? At present the club make £0 from me for away games. Provided each club provided the service, and the funding was split equally 20 ways, explain how this would kill Brighton?

What colour is the sky on your planet? You seriously, SERIOUSLY, believe that the top 6 would agree to share their streaming income equally 20 ways? 1 million pay for their streams, 20 thousand pay for ours but between us we get 1/20th of the combined income. Would you like to buy Sydney Opera House for £1000 as I can send you the details.

What’s weird is that other countries show every single PL game. I was in Spain for 2 weeks and could watch whatever game I liked. Trouble is I only want to watch BHA and feel unhappy using an illegal stream. At some point the big clubs might decide to just sell their games direct to the customer, maybe a one club season ticket for £150 or £250 all PL games. Until then it’s Radio Sussex for me with a spot of gardening which is enjoyable in its own way. UTA.

@Dick Swiveller I at least feel that an agreement based on league position is possible, it’s how the PL works.

Perhaps split equally 20 ways is overly idealistic, but in an ideal world sport wouldn’t just be an extension of the everyday business willy waving that makes everyday life such a joy for most of us.

I'm not sure of the current costs, but, according to a piece in the Manchester evening news in 2021, it costed a UK viewer £27 sky subscription plus an extra £58 for combined sky sports and bt sport packages per month. For 128 sky sports games and 52 bt sport games.

Add to that £80 a year for Amazon prime and their 20 games.

That makes £1100 a year to watch 200 out of the total 380 matches.

How much of that cost is BT, Sky, Amazon mark up?

As the premier League produces its own broadcast media, they could market directly to the consumer.

I'd happily pay the same £1100 for access to all the 380 matches direct from the Premier League Productions, via a netflix style portal.

Surely that would benefit both the clubs and the consumer. We get to view all of the matches and each club getting a split of the increased revenue?

To get back to the OP's original question - the answer's just the bleedin' obvious one. It's free, it doesn't cost hundreds of pounds a year - and it shows games that aren't available on the subxscription channels anyway.
But like you, it's Radio Sussex via t'internet for me too.

Why would you not rather watch the match...the whole match?

Simples, allow the away club to broadcast the match in the home stadium. This would open up additional revenue stream for the clubs plus enable some fans who can't attend many games home or away the chance . I'd pay say a tenner for that priveledge

Hmm you are essentially paying a fee to a firm who broadcast matches that are still illegal to watch live in the UK. I wonder do you have to use a VPN to mask your country of origin?

Simple. Because every other single country around the world can watch Saturday 3pm kick off games. The only country not allowed to is the country where the games are actually being played.
