Easy 10
Brain dead MUG SHEEP
The last manned lunar landing was Apollo 17, back in 1972.
So todays Friday lunchtime PUB session was dominated by the question: Why has nobody gone up there for nigh-on 40 years now ? OK, the Apollo programme saw 5 successful missions whereby man has landed on the Moon and returned. So scientifically they'll already have gathered shedloads you'd have thought, therefore perhaps there's not so much to gain now in terms of scientific discovery by going there again.
But in this day and age, in a far more COMMERCIALISED world, going to the Moon and back would still be a BIG DEAL wouldn't it ? Massive in fact. I mean, you'd tune in to watch it wouldn't you ? How come we havn't had (for example) a manned mission from Cape Canaveral with a team of astronauts and, say, David Beckham to land on the Moon. "Tune in summer 2011 in full HD for this groundbreaking Worldwide event, as Beckham takes a free-kick in zero gravity. Brought to you by Coca Cola and Playstation."
Its clearly DO-ABLE isn't it ? I mean christ, if we could do this thing 40 years ago in 1969, then with the technological advancements we've had since then, landing on the Moon should be a piece of piss these days. But nobodys bothered DOING it have they ? Or was 1969 really all a load of studio-bollocks after all ?
I'm SUSPICIOUS now. And until I see David Beckham on the Moon, I won't believe we've DONE it.
