if most people didn't find them comfotable, so many wouldn't wear them.

joggers are probably more comfy but too informal for many, same applies to shorts. trousers too formal, dont wear so well. so the default for most is jeans.

Often think this myself. I'm reminded of just how damn uncomfortable they are when I get changed out of them after a long day at the football.

I haven’t even owned a pair of jeans for the last few years. I might buy a pair sometime, but when the fashion went to skinny jeans I was not the target market. Please tell me they’ve moved on from the style so beautifully modelled in @Chicken Run’s post above.

personally, I wouldn't be seen dead in my own house, let alone public, wearing anything resembling a tracksuit, or joggers, or whatever slack arsed lazy fatso thread 'name's' have been invented since people started looking for an excuse to not wear proper clothes.

Is the right answer. Denim was used for making work clothes because cotton breathes, and in denim, lasts a long time. I’ve worn jeans for 60 years now, and not going to apologise to anyone for that.
