All I meant was, at age 16 or 18, you can do pretty much whatever you want to do, no-one expects anything form you, if you want to go backpacking around Australia, work on a Cruise Ship or as a holiday rep, climb Everest, you know, you can.

Once you hit 20, you have different ideas on life, your needs change, and to act on those needs you can't just piss about doing nothing.

20 was a slightly arbitary age, but no, your life won't be over, but you're going to find it harder to do exaclty what you want to do, you may already have commitments, already have a job/career/relationships, all things that will influence your life.

Whereas, at age 16, for most people, very little is going on that influences your next step, your decisions about what you are going to do today, or tomorrow.

I do see what your saying...I think its all about what right for certain people and what society expects a certain age type should do.

Im 22 and am off to Oz in october.....havent found a career yet and just fancy a laugh....job/career does not interest me....not yet anyway...if I die tommorrow ive got to have some decent memories logged in my mind...instead the inside of a office!

It's not really a situation I'd talk about with my family though, and most of my mates know the situation and are trying to help. Just thought that I'd see what some older more wiser people would advise.
