Sorry to report this chaps, but a mate of mine who lives near Murray has texted me to say that there was a police car parked outside of Murray's home all afternoon. A resignation for personal and family reasons looks on the cards.

If he goes he will go to a northern championship club, Gus and Tony aren't stupid, they wouldn't sell him to any promotion rivals surely...?

Because Gus said so. And I know who is more important to us.

So does your mate know Murray or any of his family?

What would a police car have to do with that? Plus he wouldn't have been even playing today if that was the case?

I really think it's just a case of typical Gus. Tryng to prove that there are no superstars in the side. Let's be honest, Barnes and Wood isn't a bad strike force and we do have lots of games coming up.

Murray came on as a sub v
Brentford (we won 1-0)
Bristol Rovers (Drew 2-2)
Southampton (drew 0-0)
Bournemouth (lost 1-0)

We have had four league losses:

Sheff Wed - Murray played all 90mins
Hartlepool - Murray played all 90mins
Hudderfield - Murray played all 90mins
Bournemouth - Murray was a sub.

Ignoring today, starting murray didn't prevent defeat, using him as a sub had not backfired unless you consider getting a point backfiring

O.k. point taken, but versus Rovers ,Saints and Bournemouth perhaps he should have started.Anyway,he has played well lately and it was a surprise to me and many others that he did not start. What is your view?

If so that would be stupid, just play the best player for the position ffs, don't mess around with egos or anything.

It's not so much about ego- it's about having a squad and having faith in each player. Anyway, it's all hypothetical, i'd be worried if he doesn't start on Tuesday, but he will.

O.K. point taken:thumbsup:,but perhaps if he had started against Rovers ,Saints and Bournemouth we may have got more out of the game.Still, with the way Murray has been playing it was a great surprise to me and no doubt many others that he did not start today.

Just had a text similar to what dwayne has said above.

Glenn clapping and waving to the fans a lot more than he usually does. Also shook hands with a lot of his team mates.

Hopefully it's all blown out of proportion!

Possibly crediting the fans' shouts to bring him on? Just guessin'.

Anyway,he has played well lately and it was a surprise to me and many others that he did not start. What is your view?

I am partly surprised, partly not. This isn't the first time Gus has put him on the bench, but previous times have been after some inconsistent performances, I don't recall any inconsistent performances in his last few games. I do believe the fans think more highly of Murray than Poyet does, perhaps poyet puts more weight on his underperforming than fans do, or perhaps murray is doing what the crowd likes to see, but poyet wants something else out of him, I don't know, I just know this isn't he first time this season it has felt like poyet doesn't see murray to be as undroppable as the fans do.

Murray has not scored coming off the bench this year or last. (5 sub appearances this year, league and cup; 7 last year), so it seems odd to think of him as a player to come on and score (barnes scored two off the bench last year, one this year, sandaza has scored 3 off the bench).

I don't think we can say with absolute certainty that we would have got anything out of the game if Murray did start today, but it is easy to point to his absence as the reason we lost, as it is easily remedied. Whereas the alternatives are too many players losing form, opponents working us out, and other things that are harder to put right, and thus a whole lot scarier to contemplate.

It was a wonder strike that decided this game. I think too much is being made of Murray's absence from the starting line up.

Even if the game would have been won with Murray, I am not going to get too hung up on it. It was only our fourth league defeat, we're clear by three points with 2 games in hand on our two nearest rivals, and one game in hand on the third nearest. We're in a great position, and can afford the slip at the moment. As long as we pick ourselves up, correct any mistakes, and don't let it play on our minds, we'll get back to winning ways and everyone ill forget about this.

We won't ....unless Murray is replaced with someone equally as good. Barnes and Wood won't win us promotion. I hope Gus realises this.
