"Why are you obsessed with Brighton? They always lose!"

This is the impression I get over in the fringes of Hastings in East Sussex. Premiership scum fans, non-football fans and teachers who also live in Brighton at college.

I try and reiterate my point why I believe people should support their local team, but the fact is they are not interested because we are "shit".

At best, we are Reading. Pathetic support in the lower leagues, but if we get to the top, we will have the plastic fans come running.

There is about 4 : 1000 approx Brighton fans where I am.

An interesting quote some told me, hes a Charlton fan and he says "I will never watch Brighton, I will never ever have faith in local teams because they cheat you" He also said he has watched, and loves watching Palace when AJ was there.

I feel pretty helpless to be honest, that I can't convert or attract people to come.

Ask them if they support their national team.

Then ask why they'd don't support their local club team.

Or just kick them in the c.unt.

Its the same for every team in most towns and cities, even those that have had good Premiership history. Those people dont go to football anyway they just watrch it on tv so I wouldnt worry about it.

To be honest Adrie you should be even more proud to follow your local club if this is the sort of ignorant shite you have to put up with from people in Sussex! All power to your elbow youngun, you have more guts than these mugs who "support" Chelsea, ManUre, Arsenal etc.

See Wycombe fans won chant of the season when they were at Chelsea last week for the carling Semi- Final they sung:

Carefree wherever you may be
We are the nouveau Chelsea FC
So please sit down so my wife can see
I've been coming here since 2003

When I was on holiday last Summer I got chatting to some blokes by the pool, when they asked me what team I support and I said Brighton their response was "No really, what PROPER team do you support?" I said what do you mean and they were like "You know, Premiership team"

Adri, ask the Charlton fan how many cups their team have won in the last 6 years.

I have got two of them in my avatar (Div 3 and Div 2 championship) and the play off final.

They might support Premiership clubs but they are boring. Brighton is NEVER boring.
We are always in a promotion or relegation battle.

Does it really f***ing matter!

People can support who they want!

Not everyone should support the Albion FFS! when are people going to realise this?

Funnily enough, watching the World cup opening matches in France in the bar there was a bloke who asked us who we supported. We said Brighton and he chuckled. Yes, he was a Palace fan, BUT he said ' we support proper teams'

He was right. We support our local teams not picking and choosing a team off the telly.

does that make you a better fan who supports Man United, Liverpool or whoever, but goes to all home and away games but lives down here?

Maybe people support teams because of family influences etc. I support Glasgow Celtic but was not born in Glasgow or indeed Scotland but have family that were! And I go to watch them!

you are very blinkered if you think because you support the Albion you support a proper team!

The vast majority of fans who say they support a Premiership team at Adrie's school have probably never seen them live.

Of course the Albion is a proper team. There are 91 other proper teams in the English leagues.

We have a mixture of pricks that support prem teams at work and guess what most of them have never see them off the telly. The 2 Liverpool supporters make me laugh the most never been 2 Anfield but see themselves as fans just like me. I call them the pay- per -view scousers :lolol:
