We have a real mix at work, mainly plastics but not all, plus hardly surprisingly a couple of rugby fans who hate the beatiful game. My boss is a Cov supporter and the other bloke in our section is a plastic Toffee (Evertonian from Gloucestershire!), I support the lowest team by league position by some distance.

Most laugh about the Albion and take the rise when we lose a game, with one notable exception...the Pompey fan...yes there is plenty of banter between us, but there is also mutual respect because we support the teams from where we both grew up and not someone picked at random from the top of the Premiership (granted his team is nearer the top than we are, but when I started following the Albion they were in the fourth division and we were in the third).

Makes you sick dunnit.

When I was on holiday last Summer I got chatting to some blokes by the pool, when they asked me what team I support and I said Brighton their response was "No really, what PROPER team do you support?" I said what do you mean and they were like "You know, Premiership team"

Similar here. Talking to someone in the office I told them I supported Brighton, his response was "Yeah, but who else? You must support a big team?"

A flea was delivered sharply to his ear and he was sent away.

If your honest I think it's clear why BHA arn't attracting much new support , in no particular order :-

1. The ground has no atmosphere

2. The Park and Ride schemes a pain , as is finding a pub near the ground.

3. No roof means you get wet and cold or look like a prat wrapped in plastic

4.To stay at even this level BHA have to attempt to play what I call "effective" football i.e 9 behind the ball with 2 up front looking for set pieces which are well practised. Effective but dull to the non commited

5 Ticket prices (take a kid and you've blown £50 on the day)

In short if no Falmer (the only solution to all of the above) , it will soon be no Albion

If someone can't understand why you support your local team then they can't understand what football is about at all.

You'll always know when someone is a real football supporter, Premiership or not, by the way they react when you tell them you are Brighton.

Take a friend or two to an away game.

This year I've been to Scunthorpe, Huddersfield, Bradford, Doncaster, Chesterfield.

4W 0D 1L, 9F (inc a hat-trick) 4A

No harping armchair critics, tons of loud support. No financial benefit to club ('cos they don't bother to sell away tickets), but team is always very grateful for our support, and come over to the stand at the end to applause us as we applause them, win or bust.

Truthfully, most years we lose more than we win, but that makes the wins better tasting, and longer remembered.

That must be where I am going wrong this season.

I have been to Forest, Yeovil, Doncaster, Bristol City (Twice).

0W 0D 5L, 1F 8A

My record last season is much the same, though I did see the 1-1 draw at Derby on the opening day, the last time I saw us avoid defeat.

walsall
People i know in Walsall are about 50% villa fans, 30% Man U, 10% walsall and the remaining 10% are liverpool, wolves and birmingham.
As many consider Walsall part of Birmingham, I suppose over 60% of people here do support their local team, as they are all with in 15 minutes.

To be honest Adrie you should be even more proud to follow your local club if this is the sort of ignorant shite you have to put up with from people in Sussex! All power to your elbow youngun, you have more guts than these mugs who "support" Chelsea, ManUre, Arsenal etc.

Over here they have only heard of Man Yoo, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea.
When I wear my Albion shirt they try to guess which AFL team it is:flameboun .
I am getting tired of explaining that there are other teams in England.
Mind you when I walk into the boozer Sunday lunchtime bleary eyed from listening to Saturday game on net, the joke is to get the 'SKINT' bloke a pint:clap:
Works for me:drink:

jim, my next game will be at Brentford, where we usually lose...so I am hoping to break the hoodoo (another defeat will put me in double figures, not an enviable record).

My mates daughter was telling us she gets teased at School for being a brighton fan cos they all support Chelsea and Brighton are crap compared to Chelsea.

She has a season ticket at Brighton so I told her just to ask them how many times thay have been to Stamford bridge to watch them live. She was well chuffed with that, made her feel like Brighton wasn't so bad after all.

1. Agree about atmosphere but that's the fans not the stadium.

2. Park and Ride seems to work fine. Plenty of buses to get us in and out. Also, if no fans then surely park and ride would work even better.

3. You only get wet if it rains. And I've never heard derogatory comments when the plastic ponchos come out.

4. Thanks for clarifying. Funny that all the other clubs don't play a 8-0-2 formation but why not let Wendy know where he's going wrong.

5. Absolute bollocks. Take a kid and it costs an extra £1 - YES, ONE POUND MORE. I go with 2 under tens and 3 of us get to see the Albion for £25.

Jeez - it's bad enough, LDC spreading rumours and mistruths without Albion fans doing it.

most premiership fans dont go to games, why that is i dont know, ticket prices, always on tv or whatever

i like the fact that if someone asks what im doing at the weekend i can always say something ridiculous like im going to carlisle or chesterfield - going to games and shouting your heart out at the team is what makes being a football fan worth while

if you look at england away games, most fans you meet are always lower league fans, and when you see the many huge st georges cross around the stadiums on matchday you will always see flags for teams like torquay, mansfield, brighton, and lower league teams - there are pretty much never premiership flags

the premiership maybe where the glory is at, but lower league football will always have more passion in it i think

Adri, ask the Charlton fan how many cups their team have won in the last 6 years.

I have got two of them in my avatar (Div 3 and Div 2 championship) and the play off final.

Er Yorkie, the league have been on the blower again. Any chance they could have them back?
