Does our survival as a club depend on Championship football? I doubt it.

.

Quite possibly it does.

Relegation will reduce our income from Sky TV by £1m which is = to 1/4 of our annual budget. The players will not take a 25% drop in wages, I wouldn't think, a drop yes but 25%. We are losing money every week now and have no rich benefactor to call on to bail us out.

Norman Cook has apparently, although I have never read it, said , according to NSC, that he will not continue to give us money if we are relegated.

We start playing in the 1st round of the FA cup so the chances of a big draw are virtually non existant.

We will incur far more long distance away trips incurring overnight stays.

Our better young players and the likes of Carole Frutos possibly Henderson etc will probably be sold to keep us solvent. Even some of the youth team.

Unless we are in the top 6 the gates will drop because our fans are fickle and who wants to come and watch us play Hartlepool when it could be Portsmouth.

Very few League 1 teams have a big away following so the away end will not fill up very often ,if ever, perhaps Nottingham Forest and Gillingham.

It was stated on TV this week that a new ground brings about an increase of support equivalent to 50 - 60 % so based on that at Falmer we will get gates of 10500 - 11200. Will that be enough to support our business plan which is based on an average of 12,000, I don't think so.

Relegation means that the financial outlook is very bleak and as a consequence every effort should be made to avoid it.

I blame Knight, his attitude clearly has rubbed off on the rest of the squad.

Dick Knight made several promises. He has successfullly achieved several of them already, getting permission for Falmer is one of them.

Another one is getting us to the Promised Land.

It is a matter of time WHEN he achieves it, not IF he ever achieves it.

Think the problem started at the begining of the season, certain players were not performing but MM still kept them in for some unknown reason.
Instead of playing people like nicholas with hammond, who are both young and are full of energy, he choose oatway and carpenter. Are we surprise that we are not getting youngesters from premier clubs. Nicolas had played at a premier level, played international football and would have gone on to be our best player. But MM has kept him out the side. So that's why they won't come here.

You've obviously not watched Nicolas in reserve games.
Is it any coincidence that we have lost our way since Oatway was injured on Boxing Day?

We do miss Charlie. In answer to the who's fault question, I think the fans have to take most of the blame.

Everyone can make an excuse. DK, Falmer is taking all our money. MM, I need certain players. The players themselves, we have great spirit and we are not getting the rub of the green. Even too many supporters all seem content to say we punch above our weight and we should be content with what we have achieved. This is all bollocks, football is a competitive sport, the aim is to play to win and achieve success, not rest on where we are. I accept someone has to be top of the league and someone has to be bottom, but our attitude lately from Chairman to supporter is total ametuer. DK, if the manager is not performing provide money for him to do his job or find someone who can get results without it. MM, If you are not getting the money or support you need to get players, resign, and to the supporters get behind the team, but stop accepting brave defeats, it's time we all toughend up and became more aggresive. I'm more then happy to see 1-0 wins with all 11 men defending from now until the end of the season, worry about attractive play when we're a better side. Survival is paramount.

Whatever next! Newbies coming on here talking sense, spelling things correctly and using punctuation? What is this board coming too?

Oatway does give the side something, although I'm sure he would have made too much of a difference recently - I think the absence of Knight has been more noticeable.

In Oatway's absence, giving Nicolas a game probably would have made us a lot stronger in the middle.

You are so wrong, Nicolas is a good player, before he came here. but we all know that you don't like him for some unknown reason, did not say any thing bad about your precious oatway. see him play many times. Oatway has bad and very bad games and is not dropped.

Also Yorkie, how can you say that the team has lost its way since Oatway got injured.
We weren't winning, and he had some nightmare games, but was he dropped, of course not.

Yeah, and where's the option for all the whingeing wankers on NSC, who call themselves supporters, but do nothing but knock the club unless everything is sweet and dandy.

That's the one i'm voting for. :)

Blind love will get you nowhere my friend. McGhee has destroyed pretty much everything which Adams, Taylor and Coppell put in place. The way we played yesterday was appalling, the dressing room is a shambles, the team spririt which served us well has gone, the are cliques in the dressing room, he has alienated players on a regular basis, we have a manager who is seemingly unable to find a single loan player to improve the team even though he clearly has a budget. Adams, Taylor and Coppell ALL brought in good loanees. McGhee has failed us.

If you cannot see this you are blind. ALL other managers operated under similar circumstances and had us playing a lot better. And please fo not cite lack of funds. A pot with 100k and the salary to go with it is a decent amount of money for the transfer window.
