To start off, Gerhard "Gerd" Müller scored 68 goals in 62 international appearances, 365 goals in 427 Bundesliga games and the international record of 66 goals in 74 European Club games.

Playing style

In his book "Brilliant Orange: The Neurotic Genius of Dutch Football", David Winner writes, "Müller was short, squat, awkward-looking and not notably fast; he never fit the conventional idea of a great footballer, but he had lethal acceleration over short distances, a remarkable aerial game, and uncanny goalscoring instincts. His short legs gave him a strangely low center of gravity, so he could turn quickly and with perfect balance in spaces and at speeds that would cause other players to fall over. He also had a knack of scoring in unlikely situations."

Ruud Van Nistlerooy. No one better. Ever!

Much easier to score sacks of goals playing for a team like Man U - surrounded by class players. I'd think someone like Shearer did better because he got his goals playing for lesser sides like Southampton,Blackburn & Newcastle.

Not world class, but good finishers i have noted over the years following the Albion-

Duncan Shearer - Swindon Town
Stan Collymore - Southend United
Micky Quinn - Portsmouth/ Newcastle

The chances are the same who ever you play for? The reason he played for united/real Madrid is because he was the best around.

When he learnt how to finish Henry was great, the way he opened his body up, much like Bobby for us, you KNEW he'd just sweep it past the keeper.

Fran Sandaza. f***ing shit. But a great finisher.

Yup. Remarked just yesterday that he's ALMOST the sort of player we need. Shit at absolutely everything except finishing.
