Not a fan of the country as a location but nothing much I can do. I’m less excited this time than for other world cups but completely switched off about England team under current leadership so will watch some games if times work. Similarly am sure will log in to watch some Brighton players. But yeah, will watch but much less and with less excitement than usual.

The dull part of the south coast
Now what would FIFA do if one of the teams, who are considered to be favourites to win the tournament, came onto the pitch wearing shirts with a slogan supporting human rights or similar?

Better still, if all the teams did something similar. A bit of wishful thinking I know but wouldn’t it be great if all those corrupt b*****ds had their noses put out of joint?

T-shirt worn under shirt with simply ‘6,500’ on it, revealed by player after scoring would be fantastic, or one with a graphic of blood-soaked dollar bills.

So little interest from proper fans that they're faking them - BADLY:

Jesus Christ. That is Qatar 22 right there.

Never again. Please.

I’m not sure many world cups have had England fans in the country 6 days before the tournaments starts to be fair

Brighton
BBC reporter on breakfast TV this morning pointing out that there was something missing, fans. Walking the streets there were just a handfull who had made the journey. Too early yet?

Brighton factually.....

The country, regime, and laws are hardly conducive to fans taking over bars singing songs and general merriment.
I say that not as a joke, because it is not just England fans that do this, most European countries do, and the vast majority do go to have a good time, a few beers, a sing song, and a bit of banter.....

I genuinely think fans, do not know if that is possible in Qatar...

I am all for respecting others faith and culture, but when you invite the world to your home, you should in turn be accommodating, and also not make comments like "damaged brain" referring to homosexuality. We and the whole world know, that is what you think, but for Jebus's sake don't say it, that is tantamount to a threat really....

Feck Qatar & Feck FIFA

I’ve just watched a documentary on Amazon Prime Video called ‘Kickback’. The story is about the investigation by Andrew Jennings, and others, of the corrupt dealings of FIFA, Blatter and all his stinking cronies over the last twenty years. It is compulsive viewing where most of protagonists get their come uppance. Infantino, the current FIFA president doesn’t come out it smelling of roses either.

I heard a lovely analogy from Bob Mills on the latest Fighting Talk Episode.

To paraphrase:

"Have I ever told you about my mate Steve Jacobs pizza parties? They were magnificent, the stuff of legends. Beautiful pizzas and lovely company.

Well, one day Steve and his wife Janet split. There had been some infidelity etc and it was all a bit messy. My wife is good friends with Janet and they like to go on shopping trips together. She came back from one and said to me 'Well, Steve will really find out what people think of him when they don't turn up to his pizza party this week'

'Excuse me?' I said. 'What do you mean?'.

'Well', she said 'no one's going to want to go after what he did!'

'THE PIZZA HAS DONE NOTHING WRONG' I said. I'm not going to stop going and enjoying Pizza because of what Steve did'"

Hmmmm

I think the fact Bob Mills is more concerned with stuffing his fat face and belly, tells you all you need to know where his moral compass is at...

No alcohol will now be sold at stadium sites. Who is one of the sponsors? Budweiser. Oh dear.

Unless you have an executive box (19k a pop), then alcohol will be served.
So if your super wealthy than you can have a drink....
Is that how religion works then ?

Allah, must be so proud.

Too be honest, if given a choice between Budweiser and rusty water I would go for the latter, even if a Camel had peeded in it... :lolol:

You could never drink at the stadium, it was just outside sold in tents. I guess the concern is the mixing with locals and alcohol. In normal life the locals can avoid alcohol by avoiding hotels / bars etc , but having it in front of them is obviously deemed a risk / inappropriate

Isn't hypocrisy exactly how religions work? For years Catholic priests were condemning sex outside of marriage, all the while f***ing the later boys. Just one of many examples.

You would like to think wouldn't you?

So far as I'm aware only the Aussies and the Danish have "spoken out". But hey, our Harry is going to wear a special captain's armband so that will stuff it to the Qataris won't it. Never been a fan of Kanes I'll admit. As we know he is a dirty, diving cheat but as captain of my country I certainly expect him to be saying and doing way more than he has.
