Ruben Suarez then? As mentioned on the other thread.. where someone quoted a Spanish source saying he'd been offered a deal too. Working through the reports using flaky internet translations, it appears that the Levante forward was a huge hero though but opted not to stay on because of a dispute over the length of the contract. A few days ago they were saying he was moving to China but a report on Monday seems to suggest that he has had second thoughts on that on the advice of a friend (he's got some former team-mates out there).
A short-arse by the looks of it so not the big man Gus is after.. but maybe he falls into that category of too good to ignore, a bit like Vicente last season....

Gus said there would be another two players to "help him" (Vicente). Do you think that could actually mean two players who he has played with before?
EDIT: I had seen he was going to China, where did u see that he had changed his mind?
Hmm. Looking at it again, I've found a different translation which seems more solid on him going to China. It sounds like a done deal but raises the prospect that he may find it hard to settle as he's been warned that Ghizhou is no Peking - and therefore could make a quick return.
In the other translation, it sounded more like he already had cold feet and was still deciding...

I think he'd probably going to China... but then nothing would surprise me with Gus.
Can you post the original Spanish or the link please.
He's a player I'm sure most/many will have heard of. I'd of course love to be proved wrong but we have no chance of signing Mathieu.

Aunque fue de cara al explicar en privado los motivos por los que no reconocería la oferta de China, tampoco tenía ninguna necesidad de mentir, pese a estar en su derecho. Lástima, sinceramente, que los que le compraron la cabra hayan quedado en tan mal lugar. Es una injusta recompensa después de haber sacado tanto tiempo la cara por él. Excepto a quien le faltó tiempo para negar a SUPER, nadie se lo merecía. Con decir que estaba valorando esa opción, que es la verdad, habría sido más que suficiente. No hacía falta que detallara pormenores, con independencia de si al final se iba a Gijón o a la Conchinchina. Aquí tan sólo importa que ha llegado el final de unos de los iconos del Levante.
Por ser un grande de la historia granota hay que entender los motivos que le empujaron a hacerlo y, por supuesto, perdonarlo. Hay que homenajearlo y que se despida como toca. Rubén se va y acabará su carrera en China salvo que sobre la bocina se eche para atrás, algo que no hay que descartar porque Nano ha sido sincero a la hora de explicarle que Ghizhou no es Pekín. La oferta económica es irrechazable, pero el asturiano teme llegar allí, que se le caiga todo encima y volverse a España. Seguramente no ocurrirá, pese a que que si decide echar marcha atrás el Levante y el Sporting lo seguirían recibiendo con los brazos abiertos.

Goal scoring record is poor but would still be surprised if Wigan let him go, he looked promising last season. He was mainly used as a sub to mix things up or close out games towards the end of the season. Good work rate and physical presence so he'd do for me.
