There was a thread about it on here, saying you couldn't get a pint at halftime. I suspected it was a windup but don't know for sure as being WSU I'm not that bothered.

The Supporters Bar won't be open at half-time, no, so you'll have to get a beer from the kiosks in the concourses. Access to Supporters Bar is only from outside the stadium. I think.

It was suggested that there won't be a beer kiosk in the North Stand concourse, there wasn't one on the 3D stadium explorer thing.

Cheers for that. All things considered it's not going to work is it?

I'll let Uter by me a couple of drinks at the ground then.

Why not approach the University of Sussex Student Union (USSU) and open a dialogue to see if the University bars (or one or some of them) can be open to the footy fans? I'm pretty certain they're the ones who runs and subsidise the bars.

Worth a try, isn't it?

They've been one of the biggest opponents to the stadium all along and HATE us.

Seems to me that the club should have an FAQ up on this and a host of other things that they know or when they might know (e.g transport, park and ride, plan for the corners

I just assumed I'd show up 30/40 mins before and have a couple on the concourse .. not sure if that's right now

There are bars on all the concourses, including the North Stand, shouldn't be a problem turning up beforehand and having a swift pint or two.

Not true.

The University of Sussex welcomed us quite warmly, and that prannet (name escapes me) didn't exactly speak for everyone.

You and Notters are talking about two separate entities here. The Uni might like the club but the Student union are never going to open their bars for football fans in a million years.

Cool hope you are right mate!! But you get other people saying there isn't one on the North or/and it isn't open at half time?

So we have definately established there is a Supporters Bar in the North, BUT is there DEFINATELY a bar on the concourse and is it open before, during and after the game?

As mentioned above I think a FAQ page would be very helpful, it is ok if you are on this site all the time and discuss all these kind of things, but for occasional surfers it is not so easy to find out, especially when you get people wanting to be bertie big balls with their patronising look at me "fixtures ha ha" etc comments.

They will be open, but don't get your hopes up about being allowed in:

Q: How will the University and the club ensure the safety of students (particularly young first year students living on campus) and staff on match days?
A: Football fans who park on campus will be restricted to set vehicular and pedestrian access routes. They will not have access to any other parts of campus. The football club will pay for the upgrading of CCTV cameras around campus.

Q: Will the student bars and the restaurants on campus remain open on match days?
A: There would be no access to student bars and restaurants for any football fans - so there would be no reason not to open them.

Q: If the student bars and campus restaurants did stay open, would football fans have access to them?
A: There would be no access to student bars and restaurants for any football fans.

Questions and answers : Falmer stadium : University of Sussex

I spoke to the bar manager at East Slope just a few days ago and he reckons although this will officially be the case, there'll be no ID checks at the door on the day unless you're "obvious", ie group of lads wearing football shirts making a racket on their way in. They will be bumping the prices up on match day to pay for the heavies on the door though.

Bottom line is be inconspicious and you'll be fine. The bar is run by the student union and they're NOT gonna turn away the chance to make a killing every other Saturday.
