Who would you put in goal if Kuipers was sent off/injured?

My opinion is dfferent but that doesn't make it rubbish. We have dropped like a stone because we have only beaten one of the top seven sides. We are only just in the top half of the division now and only won one game in the league out of the last seven games.
It depends if your glass is half full or half empty.

i do agree with the point that we need to have a no 2 on the bench but why do we give deano such a hard time ???? he is a good manager

Yes but the point is we have no money to spend we have to produce all are home grown players deano has to look out for free transfers and loan signings and he does a good job at it so why kick up a fuss................

As I am one of those that speak rubbish as you say, please show me where I have said anything bad about Wilkins on here other than on this particular issue.

The rubbish as you quote it is an opinion, football is all about opinions, that is why there are some good managers and some poor ones but I am sorry if that goes above your head.

I believe that in general Wilkins is doing well but as I said I THINK that he is wrong not naming a goalkeeper sub. Be interesting to see how many other clubs out of the 92 do the same.

We are wasting money on loan signings like Richards when I consider that we have a home grown left back who is as good if not better - Sam Rents. Just my opinion. Who is making the fuss on this thread? Accusing others of posting rubbish when it is just an opinion?

That was the point I was highlighting. It is my opinion and may be construed as rubbish by some but not by me and perhaps others.
I think that was aimed at me.

If I was the opposition and knew the other team didn't have a keeper on the bench then I would ask for someone to clatter the playing keeper 'accidentally' Professional fouls happen all the time in this cynical world.

Bizzare decision. Smacks of non league. It WILL come back to haunt him if we keep not having a sub keeper.

It's not just the potential for Kuipers to get injured but a one on one scenario and a ref like prosser and he could be sent off. Safety first I would have thought. Stick Sulli on the bench.

It is inevitable now. I bet we'll soon have a game where Kuipers gets sent off/injured at the start of the match, and thanks to Dean's decision we have no proper back up keeper, and we consequently get flogged 7-0. Probably will happen in an important match where we need to win to stay in the playoff hunt or something like that.

I was standing behind the goal at Torquay whilst Michel was warming up before the game. With the very last kick of the session he dived to his right to fend away a ball heading low into the corner. It was drilled but he managed to get an arm out to it.

At the time I remember thinking "this is a strong guy" because the balls was travelling and he'd managed to block it out with a very strong arm.

However, as the ball hit him, he shouted out and immediately pulled his arm away. He looked very uncomfortable and ended the session cradling his arm and walking off chatting to the physio.

If he had been injured in the warm up, we'd have been forced to play the whole match without a recognised keeper. He was called upon to make a couple of smart saves in that match. Would Fraser have done so?

It didn't. Not sure thats really the point though. Do you think Wilkins is right to not have a sub keeper?

it could backfire, if we dont have a goalie if the number 1 gets injured during a game.

so far it hasnt, if he thinks Fraser or Savage "could do a job" then fine by me.
We need goalies on the bench for the "big" games, and he did against Forest, again not needed.

It is harsh on Sullivan because in all the reserve games ive been to, he has played well and is always commanding the defence about.
The good thing is, he will probably stay, and he must be better the Martin, otherwise they wouldnt have let him go.

Also it means we dont bring in another experienced goalie, which would probably take up a huge chunk on the small wage budget

means we can use it on outfield players that would get us more points like Matt Richar.......... oh, I see your point

I don't agree with that at all. I think Rents is relatively weak defensively and Richards is a more complete player at the moment. There is also a chance that he might sign permanently if he is happy here and getting regular football, so it is not a waste of money in my opinion.

Was McShane a waste of money?

I really do not see the big fuss in not having a reserve keeper. There are plenty of teams that do not do that and it is not as if we have been doing it since Day 0 of his reign. The players look knackered at the moment and I would rather have plenty of options on the bench to cover many outfield options, when we have so many games. When was the last time we used a reserve keeper?

I still think Sam Rents is naturally a left midfielder, and look forward to seeing that theory put to the test.
