I was referring more to his general use of the english language, choice of topics, use of quotations from the football factory (though it does make him sound frightfully big and tough!) and, possibly saddest of all, his signature.

In fairness, an 18 year old would not remember a Tory government though it would be nice to think they would be aware that there has been another Tory prime minister since Mrs Thatcher.

One can only assume he doesn't remember a Tory government. A right bunch of old total f*** ups they were.

And don't forget the Tory councillors who let the sale of the Goldstone go through.
They could have refused planning permission for a retail park but deemed it more important to enrich Archer than support the local football club.
And don't forget the likes of Soames and Bottomley and other Sussex MPs who are set against the stadium.

Yes, Kev, the Tories have really got our interests at heart. The Tories are the class enemy; always have been, always will be.

Seagulls Party for me

The Green Party (although I`m in Stratford-upon-avon a.k.a toryville so my vote won't have any significance)

I realise not a popular choice re: falmer, but the general election is about overall policies not single issues.

Having said that, I think the formation of a 'seagulls party' to field a few local candidates for the general election is a fantastic idea! You might even get several thousand votes.

I know who our last tory PM was John Major, I remember the election he had against John Redwood in 1995 well. I am 18.

But you won't remember the Football ID Card scheme?

The then Sports Minister Colin Moynihan's pathetic attempt, immediately post-Heysel, to make everyone who wanted to attend any football match anywhere in the country, carry an ID card before they were allowed to enter thye ground. You would have had to have had an electronic card tag, which you placed on a pad, which allowed you to go through one turnstile, you would then be searched before going through another turnstile to pay your money to go in.

They assumed that all, or at least, most football fans were hooligans, and should be treated as such. I have always believed that if you treat people like shit, they will behave accordingly.

The main flaw in this scheme was that, basically, it was complete bollocks, and Moynihan, even though the scheme had the backing of Thatcher, lost his Cabinet place shortly afterwards.

UKIP = BNP lite - same great taste, but less calories.

A predictable yet ignorant comment that shows no real understanding of the party.

Personally, I will wait for all the parties manifestos to be completed, read any literature available and make an informed decision closer to the time ( maybe once an election has actually been called ! ).

Oh silly me that's not how voting is meant to be done is it ? I'm meant to select my class ( working, middle etc ) and then stick with the party that represents my class for the rest of my life.

Hardly within the same ballpark now, is it?

You don't NEED to be a AMS member to go to footy.
You don't have an electronic tag highlighting your movements.
It doesn't cause a big crush at the turnstiles.
If doesn't stop you going into a match if the computer system crashes.

Lets face it it the lesser of the evils they all have the minority at heart as we run the first by the post system.

all have pros and cons for me labour or liberals have more use to me than tories at the moment.

Despite the balls-up of WMD. And it was a balls up!!

Despite the unpopularity of banning fox-hunting with a minority (which is a 59% majority - if you believe the pro-hunting proproganda).

Despite the so called in-fighting between Blair and Brown........

What do most people vote for?

.................The state of the economy.
It is fairly sound. We don't seem to have the boom and busts of a few years ago. Brown is, IMHO, a very good chancellor.

Then we have the alternatives.

Michael "Something of the Night about him" Howard

I know I am paying more taxes under labour than I would under the tories but at least Labour have increased public spending. The NHS would be in a far worse state under Howard. (I still think there is some waste under labour - they are by no means perfect)

Charles "Tax 'em high - soft on everything" Kennedy.

Lib Dems would take too much in tax. There would be more waste than today.

And the "Little Englander" Robert Kilroy.
"We want out of Europe and ..........." what else?

I don't believe people should always vote for the same party regardless. If I thought the country would be a better place under one of the alternatives, I would vote for them! (never a nationalist party) Somehow I don't think it would!

there was no reason to go to war!!! we found saddam now get the f*** out of there. blair has lost britain, tories will make britain a better place.

You seem to have forgotten that the Tories were just as supportive of the war as Blair was!

So if they were in power, they would have gone along with Bush as well.
