The whole team in c1980 - they trained on the sports pitches at Cardinal Newman for a short-while, can't remember why now.

I don’t think the club had any sort of training ground back then.
When Alan Mullery was manager in the 70s, myself and a friend would go to watch the team training in the school holidays. We would go to the Goldstone get players autographs and then follow them up the road to Hove Rec to watch training.
They moved the training to Waterhall after a while.

I can't remember if it was Peter O Sullivan or Andy Rollings. He was our man from the Pru in Shoreham. He was chatting to my parents in our front room when I'd just started watching the Albion. My mum explained who he was, but I was none the wiser. First I met that I knew of was Perry Digweed at a Goldstone pre season meet the players. Me and Tallulah were very drunk and I asked Perry to sign my program 'God' to which he said 'Are you taking the piss?' and scrawled an X. The 1st who chose to meet me was Garry Nelson. He bought me a cup of tea at Northbrook College for drawing a cartoon of him. I don't drink tea and that seemed to end the conversation. Not met another since then (34 years ago).

As a kid I was a neighbour of John Shepherd (after he retired playing)
As a young teenager knocked on Alex Dawson's door for an autograph (Rowan Close, Portslade ?)
As an older teenager saw Mark Lawrenson , Graham Moseley and some other players in the glamorous Mile Oak pub (of all places !)
Played football against Peter O'Sullivan (Newman old Boys) , Paul Flood (Corals) & Stevie Piper (some Worthing side)

Wally Gould - my mate told me that he lived in a flat above the post office in Carden Avenue and indeed he did. I’m sure he was delighted when I knocked on his door and asked for his autograph

A few years ago at the Amex, I spotted Peter bloody Ward a few rows in front of me; at the final whistle, dashed over for a selfie (for the kids, that's when you have your photo taken together); I was pretty drunk, muttered that I'd seen his last game for us blah blah blah; he was patience personified. I was a muppet.

Gerry Fell. Poor man.

St Luke's School Jubilee celebrations 1977.

It is coincidence that I got to sit next to him on the float and nothing to do with Mum organising the event...

There is a photo where the poor chap stares aimlessly into the camera as I continue to fire more questions at him about the Albion's promotion to Division 2 that year...

Sir Norman Gall followed about 30 seconds later by Eric Whittington. It was at the bar at Horsham Football Club circa 75.
