Who was our highest paid player?

Seeing that Hammond could have been Brighton's best-paid player in history, does anyone know who was the highest? My first guess would be Zamora. Anyone else?

did Guy Butters feature in this bracket at some time? I heard that was the case, part of his previous contract, his wages were to match the highest paid player. Could be a load of bollocks, but that is what I heard, some time ago.

It was in fact total bollocks, and big fat hairy ones at that! When he first signed, the subject of that didnt even come up, and not having an agent to dream up such ideas, it would not have occured to him to have demanded such a thing!

He has no idea who has been the highest paid player, what they were paid, or even who the highest paid player is now! He's never had clauses in any of his contracts EVER! He doesnt even have a goal scoring bonus :(

I would have thought if you went on wages averaged over the period, it would have been someone like Lawrenson or Robinson, but I would have thought currently, Zamora. ( although I did hear Kitson was on a packet!!!)

No agent? And he's managed to hold down a job in football as long as he has?

That can't be right.

I bet he wishes he'd done things PROPERLY. He could have been selling insurance or something, by the time he was thirty.

Thanks for clearing that up Race, like I said, it as something I heard some time ago, and thought it was nonsense. Amazing what some people spout.

Shame Guy has no goalscoring bonus!!!

Good on him.

I trust that YOU sort him out with a 'special bonus' when he scores though Race?

A bacon sandwich or something?

But he has that every day. He needs a special bonus for scoring [It's not like it would put you out very often!]

As a matter of interest, what money would the boys of the old First Division days been on?

So do the players generally not know what each other are earning, or does Guy just keep out of it ?

No it doesnt get talked about. Some might tell each I suppose, but it's not something that gets discussed or asked about. They all have the same bonus schedule so they know about that but that is it.
