Who said “It happened right in front of us and I screamed for a policeman..." about Diouf?

I'm sorry but the over the top hysteria of Liz Costa just make this an even funnier story than it already was. Watching Diouf getting sent off was one of the highlights in 30 years of watching the Albion and now finding out that LC was having a hissy fit in the front row which maybe contributed to the red just adds to the beauty of the story.

I'm in the supporters club and have been for donkey's years. I agree that Liz is a bit strange but you can't doubt her loyalty to the club. I doubt anyone puts in as many hours a week on Albion matters and that includes Gus. I guess Supporters clubs are out of fashion since the internet came along but they still provide a service. Don't forget it was them that paid for the original North stand to be built at the Goldstone so they can't be all bad.

The current BHASC was established in 1982 and had nothing to do with building the Goldstone North Stand.

How on EARH did it take them so long to arrange travel to the last game at Selhurst?

It is hardly rocket science:

Find out date of game / venue.

Phone coach company.

Book coach.

Email members.

Take bookings.

Turn up.

Job done.

Not saying she does not deserve a degree of praise for taking on the responsibility to sort it all out for others etc, but it is hardly a military operation.

I have nothing against the woman but that is clearly a massive exaggeration.

She has been on each testimonial committee at the player's choice, the Falmer for All committee and other fund raising activities. Would anyone else on Nsc care to organise getting the old and disabled to every away match. Seagulls Travel, and Young seagulls cancel their coaches if they don't get enough to fill them, and ask the SC to take those they can't take. She guarantees to run a coach to every away game regardless of how many want to go, and it is covered by insurance for cancellations due to pitches, weather etc. There are members of Nsc whose mothers travel on these coaches.

Okay, and this isn't just a dig at Liz but the whole supporters club.

Look at what Reading have:

STAR Supporters Trust At Reading :: Home

and what we have:

Brighton Hove Albion Supporters' Club

Says it all for me.

As I said, I have nothing against the woman. She clearly helps people get to games who otherwise would struggle to. All power to her.

My point was she does not put in more hours a week on the Albion than anyone else.

I guess with those stress levels that explains why she is screaming for the police at the drop of a hat.

No one doubts she works tirelessly for the Albion.

My point is she should not be representing the fans to the media. She talks nonsense to them a large amount of time and has done repeatedly for too long. If the supporters club was run properly they would realise this and get someone who talks some sense. Equally they would tell her to shut up when questioned by the argus or anyone else.

With the exception of those in paid positions, I would think that she probably does, to be fair.

Have you ever talked to her about what she does? I know that whilst on Charlie's testimonial committee, she's had as many as 3 meetings in a week with Charlie and with AITC.

I might also point out that the Argus regularly misquote Liz especially about the 50% gay ratio. Personally I wish she would decline interviews because they misquote her so regularly.

Hang on, why couldn't she have screamed for a PoliceWOMAN. Women can make perfectly adequate police officers too you know, Liz...

It's 2013. This kind of blatant SEXISM makes me sick to my stomach.

The Supporters Club can only improve if more people join. They put a form in the programme for one game last year and scattered them around the concourses and there was almost no uptake. Like I said perhaps they've had their day. It's too easy for someone to jump behind their computer screen and deride the efforts of others while doing sod all themselves.

I think you have to have a bit of sympathy with the likes of Liz Costa over being quoted in The Argus etc. Overworked journalists will be asked to get some quotes for a story about the Albion and the first place they will try are the supporters clubs because it will be easy to look on their websites, get a couple of contact numbers and within ten minutes you have two or three quotes from fans with an official (ish) title to accompany their names.

Those quoted are not trying to act as a spokesman for all Albion fans, just answering a couple of questions asked to them by a journalist looking to fill a couple of quote spaces.

OK, the homophobia story etc WAS the Supporters Club being pro-active about getting media attention but nine times out of ten when they feature in the press it is because someone has run them up out of the blue in the middle of their day and asked them a couple of questions.

And, as far as the homophobia research went, I find it hard to argue a group should be criticised for trying to tackle that issue.

Been on plenty of football coaches where it's been allowed , seems you've led a sheltered life.

Wrong choice of word. It isn't allowed by law. Get it? Anyway do you really need alcohol to enjoy yourself?
