Usual well reasoned comments, based mainly on important qualities such as colour of hair (it is a well known and accepted fact that no red-haired player ever has been or could be an even adequate footballer).

We did this last year.

He should never have then been allowed to play the old pals act.

I'll finally believe The Ginger Slug has gone for good when there's been no reports of him sniffing around the training ground and being 'invited to train' over the Summer.

Sorry, but Mayo should just f*** off. FOREVER.

Hmmm

I appreciate the fact that he has gone.

I suspect he appreciates the fact he has been paid for so many years despite clearly not being up to it.

Please Dick, don't dish out another jobs for the boys backroom role.

Funny you should say that. I've been desperately trying to avoid using the words 'Can We Please Drive A Stake Through His Ginger Heart To Ensure The Undead Does Not Return At Left Back To Plague Us Further'. But have held back from using it. Obviously.

Would you like that in the original German?

Easy to be loyal when nobody else wants to sign you...

I don't wish the guy HARM or anything but Brighton Legend? Come off it.

He somehow found himself playing professional football. Good luck to him. He stayed here for years. Again, nice one Kerry. But did any other club ever seriously TEST his loyalty? No. And did he always keep himself in great shape and perform well on the pitch? No.

Good luck and all that but lets not go over the top on this.

If Mayo was as good as some of these comments suggest he would have played 600 games!

I cannot remember a time when I honestly considered him worthy of a starting place.

These plaudits are quite frankly LAUGHABLE.

Being happy to sit in the reserves plodding through games more than a few pounds overweight and merrily picking up your wages does NOT a legend make.

Fair enough, but he lost his job about this time last year also. Only he hustled about a bit, sweet-talked Micky Adams and wangled yet another contract. What on earth did he do for us last season to warrant that extension?

Sorry, but I refuse to believe Mayo has finally gone for good til the club take out an ASBO on the bloke. Jeez!

Lost his meal ticket, shame, hardly a job turning up playing for the stiffs. Should have gone 399 games ago. In the big world now unless his friend can find a coaching job at the college.

Not a LEGEND.

Good to see the club moving in the right way for a change and not being a charity for sub standard players

I can understand the negative comments, because I too haven't been a Mayo fan for the last 2 or 3 years. But before that he was a decent player and part of the most successful Brighton squad for 20 odd years. That alone is a worthy achievement. And as much as I haven't been happy at him being kept on for the last couple of years, it really is the club's fault and not his. Maybe you could accuse him of a lack of ambition at not moving on when he obviously should have, but that debate has been and gone, and I think on a day when a guy loses his job you have to applaud the several good years he did give us instead of berate him for the disappointing final two.

A bit harsh to pick on certain people (sometimes more than once! ), but you do have a point in a way.

It's pathetic but not surprising. Although you would have thought on the day he leaves the club people might be more decent. Maybe we should all go along and slag them off if they are made redundant. To be fair though Tom Hark criticises Murray a lot so that shows his football brain for you.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion. GRANTED - But when players have the potential to view these boards, it kinda says it all really. :nono:

Its all very well hiding behind a keyboard, but none of them frankly would have the bollocks to say anything to thier faces. It borders on shameful to be honest, we should be thanking them for thier dervices, and wishing them the best for the future. But no, in child like fashion its gives you a big boy name on NSC for slating them, and making yourself look like a first class plank in front of a few hundred. :tosser:

Most of the posters mentioned in the first post, are obviously wankers of the highest order. To come out with comments like that is completely unacceptable, and pathetic.

Have your opinions, that's fine. But there is no place for personal abuse.

NB. I'm not quite sure why TCB's post is mentioned though, he seems to be defending Mayo, who has been a loyal servant and a good player for the club during his time here.

Maybe not any more (at our level), but they were certainly fine when they were being picked for the first team.:tosser:

I know its all about opinion but jeez KM didnt play 400 odd games because he was sh,it. Are we saying that EVERY manager he ever played for as a muppet for putting him in the side?
I guarentee most of the nuggets on here have never kicked a football in their fcking sad lives to be able to criticise a true professional for what is a brilliant career at this level, not to mention the frigging loyalty which is almost dead in football these days.
Have an opinion guys but back it up with something approaching facts and knowledge!
