True.

But I see where that poster is coming from.
I voted Labour (holding my nose), there are a few other parties I’d have considered but my main intention was to keep Johnson out because I thought he’d wreck the Country (he is actually doing a far worse job than I could have imagined) being a man totally unfit for office.

However, with the Covid-19 crises, Corbyn would have been almost as bad in the long term economically speaking. Whilst I think he would have protected the nation a lot better from infection and that we’d be looking at maybe 20,000 less deaths, we would be well on our way to bankruptcy now (although I appreciate the No Deal Brexit we’re currently on course for might have a similar affect).

The last last election was frying pan or fire.

I agree that the last election wasn't the greatest of choices , but I'm interested why you think we would have been in a worse situation economically under a Corbyn Government given what Covid has done to the economy anyway.

(And I don't think a Corbyn majority was ever going to happen. The alternative to Johnson would have been a coalition of some sort). Which, of course, would have pleased Harry Wilson's tackle immensely.

I was going to say all of the above except One Nation Tory, but then Johnson would profess to be one of those. His level of ignorance of how the other half (or 95%) live is appalling.

There are decent tories in the background somewhere - a few on here.

To be fair to Lower West Stander I know a lot of people who are (or were) Tory party members, officials and a few MPs. They were all hardworking, principled people who were doing what they thought was best for the country. A small number are left, out of a sense of loyalty, but most have seen what has happened over the last few years and distanced themselves from it.

I suspect there have been a lot more having second thoughts over the last 9 months, but unfortunately it's a bit late. Personally I thought it was blatantly clear what was going to happen (as I may have mentioned on here once or twice) but I was obviously in the minority

It wasn’t just Corbyn.

Make no bones, I think Boris has been awful - and Cummings is as much a vote loser as he is. I object to being told what to do by an unelected rule breaker.

But a cabinet of Abbott, McDonnell and Burgon just doesn’t bear thinking about.....

I'm pleased nobody has voted for the black/Asian Tory option (WTF). Reminiscent of the casual racism of Biden's you ain't black schtick.

I don’t think we’d be in a worse economic situation currently with Corbyn but I do think himself and his cohort would have used the situation to pursue some long term left wing changes that would have been very problematic in the current times such as increasing welfare payment, extending furlough massively, bailing out everyone instead of limiting it, nationalising as many things as they could get away with, overfunding the NHS etc etc.

The long term health of the economy under Corbyn would have been my worry, although as I have said, Johnson’s No Deal Brexit could take us very close to bankruptcy now.

As I mentioned above, I didn't think that was the choice. I thought the choice was clearly a big Johnson majority or a coalition. But we have to make our own decisions and live with the results of those decisions.

And I suspect that given that situation again, we still wouldn't agree

I'm not being deliberately argumentative (I'm honestly not :lolol:) but increasing welfare payment, extending furlough massively, bailing out everyone instead of limiting it is exactly what we've just done, and was, in my opinion, the correct thing

Again, I think we will have to agree to disagree. So would you play AJ as a striker ?

Gone now. Time to move on. I rejoined the labour party around the time Starmer got shot of Wrong Bailey. That was unthinkable when useless Jezza held sway.

I don’t much like the tribal tories who get absolutely FURIOUS about Rule Brittania because they are so patriotic but don’t give a stuff about the fact that our country’s reputation and influence is being trashed by those who lead us.

at the moment it's those that feel that they're constantly "under attack", play the victim card constantly and act like they're some sort of "rebel" for voting for a load of pr!cks

if you vote tory then you're the establishment- the party that have ruled our country for the past 10 years and probably for the majority of your lifetime. Most of the media in this country back your viewpoint and your ideology is supported by most business owners, landowners and the majority of people with any wealth, status or power

you are not a victim in any way, shape or form so stop acting like it

Sorry. I’m not being precise.

I agree with all those measure too. I expect any normal government to curtail and phase those out as the threat of Covid diminishes. I’d have been worried that a Corbyn Government wouldn’t be so effective at that meaning that the focus is around welfare payment rather than the economy and future job creation.

In short, if Corbyn was PM now, I think things would be similar but we’d still have 20,000+ people still with us and our international reputation intact, it’s year 2,3 & 4 of his administration I’d be worried about.

I’d play Ali-J as a Striker in a front two before I played Trossard or Gyökeres!

To turn this thread around slightly and give it more balance , what’s the worst type of labour MP.

Is it the type who blindly followed Corbyn & his extreme socialist charter , happy to pour scorn on Jewish people or anyone else they felt didn’t agree with their form of extreme left wing mindset . A labour supporter who has distaste for our monarchy , wants to ultimately get rid of or at the very least dramatically reduce our armed forces , someone who thinks the harder you work and the more successful you are , then You should be crippled with far higher tax rates . Someone who is happy to give more money to people who don’t work but could work because it buys their vote in the next election . Someone who wants to re Nationalise many of our services and so create havoc and go back to the strikes of the late 70’s. Someone who supports extremist groups that preach killings but again as it wins them votes with a section of our ethnic community , we don’t worry about what moral example that shows . I could go on and on but I won’t .

Suffice to say the worst type of labour MP or labour follower under Corbyn was 10 x more extreme than the worst type of Tory .

Fingers crossed under a more decent person who actually has decent morals like Keir , all the extreme labour MP’s will be slowly weeded out . Not that I guess it matters all that much because no one other than soppy students, militants , socialist workers and the great unwashed actually voted for them anyway .

Agreed.
I am a Tory voter, but have to say that Johnson has been an abysmal leader. However, as you say, Corbyn and his crew just don't bear thinking about.
The good news is that having suffered such a humiliating defeat, we have, hopefully, seen the back of Corbynism and if Starmer has the balls, the leadership skills and the political nous, he has the opportunity to weld a moderate (I hope) Labour Party into an electable organisation fit to govern, something that the party hasn't been for quite some time.
A coalition with a Corbyn led Labour Party would just have extended the time before the party could reform under a new credible leadership.

I don't think Tories give a monkeys about Corbyn now that he has gone, however, the Labour Party will be repairing the damage that he did to the party for for quite some time to come and I dare say his name comes up quite frequently behind the scenes.
