Hopefully someone who worked hard for it

If they are rich they deserve it and worked hard for it. If they are poor they are lazy and feckless. Everyone knows that.

I’m a lot wealthier than when I first saw this thread back in 2015.

Probably because I’m young and had just joined the workforce.

Definitely not the richest on here though, maybe I’ll need to have a look behind a few more sofas...

As it happens, I have a few thousand in banknotes just lying around on my desk, collecting dust. Can't be bothered to pick them up.

My butler wouldn't stand for that sort of thing.

I guess everyone has a different idea of wealth And the value of money but I was disgusted to see a gold Rolex in the jewellers today that was £19,500. (In Portslade - some hope).

I know you can buy watches for even more but when you can buy a watch for a fiver Shirley this is IMMORAL? How much is too much? Who can justify this on a mere trinket?

We all like nice stuff, we all want to own ...things. But there is a difference between quality and obscenity.

I went to Asda today to buy a top for my son - utter dog shit but I equally wouldn’t put him Prada when he’ll grow out of it next month.

For £19,500 I’d want a car, and a watch, and a threesome, and some more rum.

I’m I rambling?

Happy Saturday everyone!

For £5k you could get a reasonable car, a decent watch and loads of rum. You have a lot of threesomes coming your way my friend

The Pension freedom act will be a great leveller here.
Since 2015 anyone with a final salary pension is able to use the value to transfer into a another fund. They can then access this once they reach 55.
It wouldn’t be unusual for an average Joe who has been with his employer for over 30 years to have a fund in excess of £1m at his or her disposal.

Usually the people that brag about wealth are not as rich as they would have you believe, it is the quiet ones who seem to live very good lives without showing off .

LOL - thread goes full circle. You'll have to get advice from the likes of Steve Foster (other investment advisors are available) to make that transfer :whistle:

Not that easy. FCA default standpoint is not to transfer without very good reason. For the average Joe the Final Salary pension is most likely going to be his main monthly income at retirement.
Also non contingent charging starts next month whereby you’ll be charged for the advice regardless of whether the transfer is or isn’t recommended.

Investment advisors are ten a penny . Do your own research and save yourself paying all their commission !

All good practice investment advice is freely available online . You can then use far cheaper online execution only services .

For a pension transfer you have no choice but to use an advisor and the fees are hefty, in part because you are required to use an advisor and in part due to the risk of subsequent Legal challenge to the advisor
.

But in many others areas I agree, if you are genuinely financially astute.

I went on a pension seminar (paid for by the company) before I retired and the feller there said that final salary schemes in general (and the BT one in particular) are better than ANYTHING you would get by transferring out. His words were "anyone who tells you different is a fool or a crook".
