Impossible to choose. However, I'd like to mention Jeff Buckley, who kicked it far too early. His album "Grace" shows mesmerising potential, and I always find it very moving. He was influenced by Nusrat Fatah Ali Khan - another great. As for female vocalists - I have a lot of time for Neko Case and the power, purity and creativity in her voice.

Personally a very under-rated K-Ci Hailey, tremendous voice, very raw but its as though you can feel what he is singing about and not just hear it.

Luther Vandross was excellent and a real favourite too, also George Michael, great voice.

All down to opinions, but for me Luther Vandross. You Tube "A House is Not a Home". Quality.
Anita Baker for the ladies.
Giving my musical taste away a bit, won't go down well with edgy NSCers!

Russ Abbott!

But actually to go with the crowd for a change... I will add my voice to the mercurial Karen Carpenter... unbeatable.

Female is a shoo-in for Polly Styrene (Germ free adolescence)
Male is a toss up between Ten Pole Tudor (Who killed Bambi) and Johnny Rotten. Johnny's opening laugh followed by "I am an antichrist" on Anarchy in the UK surely wins for the best vocal delivery of all time.
