We'll never know how things would have panned out were it not for the global financial crash of 2008. Pretty sure DK and MP would have had a few monetary tricks up their sleeves. But in that perfick financial storm, Ready Cash was King

Knight would have delivered the a stadium but for the crash and DK and MP plan for gradual growth might have delivered a stadium that actually works for the fans rather than the corporate biased Falmer.

Falmer is designed to be pretty, the Rhine Energy would fit on that plot but is a bit Ikea.

I know which one I prefer

Knight saved the club, Bloom brought about its rise (the question asked).

Not sure I like this poll, really.

Is there a thing, being vainglorious on behalf of someone else?

I voted for Dick.

Me too , we would not be an entity without him , Tony has taken the batten and is surging towards a glorious period in our history and for that he is legendary but Dick deserves a very prominent seat at that particular table for keeping us in the game ...!

Dick and the fans fought to save the club

But Tony has made the club, we're so lucky he was there when the money dried up

The answer is clearly Tony Bloom but the fact Dick Knight is polling at 25% is testament to how much he is still loved and admired.

Just to be different, Robbie Reinelt as without his goal we could have gone into oblivion.

So we could say Robbie Reinelt was the most important person in halting the dramatic descent of the club, rather than being the most important person in it's rise. Can't think there was any notion of any kind of rise until we got back to Brighton and the turn of the millennium?

I have sat in every area of Falmer (since the Spurs friendly) except the WS 1901, the SS boxes and the new TV studio.

Have you been to the Rhine Energy ?:D

Sometimes I wish TB would hand over the club to someone like Steve Dale just to teach people some humility.

I may have been on here for 6 weeks and have the advantage of living in Sussex for the whole of my life but I have visited a few foreign grounds.

Falmer is lovely as I posted and certainly impressive but 1FC Koln have a modern ugly ( some say ikea Flatpack) proper fans stadium. Check it out on YouTube.

DK and MP planned an organic growth of the stadium as finances and demand warranted. TB put a lot of eggs in the West Stand basket and the pathetic NS with all its implications for atmosphere is the price we paid especially as the design prevents expansion of a stand more suited to Crawley.:D

I thought you had flounced off of NSC.
And wtf do you know about our clubs history?
I will not take seriously the opinion of some snotty nosed brat who presumably is only a Brighton " fan" because he has a crush on Potter.

As there is a bit of a binfest about it going on on the thread about it, can we put it to bed with a poll

You only have one choice, pick carefully

Can only be one winner can’t there?

Because you put "rise and rise", I need a start point for your first 'rise'.

Is this when Dick Knight took over, before then or after then? Is it since 1901 or 2001?

Having listened to Albion Unlimited, could we say that Steve Gritt was the most important person, or Charlie Webb, as both ensured the club didn't go out of business.

What about Martin Perry and Derek Allan, without whom there would have been no Withdean to Falmer?

One choice? Nah.

Sometimes I wish TB would hand over the club to someone like Steve Dale just to teach people some humility.

But nobody is criticising TB for what he has done. He is a true fan and has had the honoured of have the ability and opportunity to act as steward for the club over the past decade.

As Bloom himself has said on buying the club, "Was it an emotional or a business decision? The truth is, I knew exactly what I was getting myself into. But if it wasn’t for the emotion of Brighton & Hove Albion being my lifelong football club I would not have considered it.”

Now his challenge - as a fan - is to ensure that it stay's a fan's club. That means acting like a steward in the interests of the club and the fans. Football is not a pure business, and the business of football clubs is about far more than entertainment. Clubs are by their very nature tribal, and the business of the club is to keep the tribe together, because when results go south, it's the tribe you fall back on.
