There's a lot of good rap and garage music out there, but it's also following a formula that's been used for decades. It's no newer or more groundbreaking than anything else...

Simple answer is that there haven't been any. Music over the last 10-15 years has been incredibly regressive. I honestly can't think of any band that's done anything that hasn't been done before. The last "significant" band was probably Nirvana and if we're honest, all they did was rip off Pearl Jam and The Pixies.
