If Achtung Baby isn't a decent album, then, then, I demand an APOLOGY from everyone who said it wasn't...*flounce*. I think it's a corker, meself.

I love the fact that, since the 70s to now, ELO have been slagged to pieces - but it's never stopped Jeff, Bev Bevan and the boys pulling out great, timeless tunes.   punk:

I thought music was about a tune you enjoyed and words you could singalong to.

:(

No, it's about listening to obscure indie and feeling superior when people say they've never heard of Do Make Say Think. Or so the NME would have you believe.

Ouch!!

Or was that one of their albums?

Behind the Front was good, actually Bridging the Gap was alright as wll. They lost it when they got that dinny woman in though.

Using the criteria that to be great they should have released AT LEAST two great albums in the last 10 years (so eliminating people like Editors and Bloc Party etc. who have yet to prove themselves with that all-important second album), and have put on a good live show, left my list as:

Mercury Rev
Spiritualized
The Polyphonic Spree
Basement Jaxx
Massive Attack (just, though their best work was already behind them, barring Mezzanine).

Probably vote for one of the first two if forced to choose.

Haven't released a decent album since 1987.

When you release an album like the Joshua Tree then you set yourself a hell of a marker by which everything else in the future will be judged. However since releasing this masterpiece U2 have managed to re-invent themselves several times over, each time producing intelligent real music.

Their live performances over the last 20 years have been SECOND TO NONE. The Zoo TV tour completely redefined how they and most modern bands bring their music to the fans and that style of show has has been mimicked by countless other bands.

The question originally asked was who has been the GREATEST band of the last decade. Whilst there are many new artists and bands who have made real quality music, (Coldplay, Green Day, Doves etc) they are in no way ready to de defined as great.
