Which striker/strikers would you aim to bring in this summer?

Murray, Barnes, Ulloa. Perm any two from three. Y'know, the kind of proven strikers a club with any genuine ambition would have fought tooth and nail to retain in the first place. The kind you can't just nip down the Pound Shop to replace and hope that nobody notices.

i think the club saw themselves as more attractive to potential quality replacements than they are tbh. No club with ambition, that we allegedly have, lets their best players go so easily although I can't complain about letting Leo go. That was mental money.

Brighton are able to sign these players because they're known to be fair to them in terms of transfers. If a 'bigger' move awaits them they're allowed to leave IF the money is right for example. I have no problem with this system, but you do rely on picking up 2-3 good (promising) players each season. I wouldn't be surprised to see us pick up Tex in the summer for this very reason.

If we can sign Tex I will be very very impressed. I give us zero chance of signing him or even getting him back on loan. We cannot even begin to compete financially

Murray didn't want to leave and I'd love to know how hard we tried to keep Barnes. Reading between the lines on his comments I'd say not very hard.

Players of that ilk SHOULD be targeted. Unlikely not to get in the top premier sides but have unproven quality. Much like Lua Lua was whilst on own at Newcastle.

If we sign Tex then fine but this year shows that is nowhere near enough as after all, we have had Tex all this season and well, the table doesn't lie.

In fairness the strikers in front of him are so off the pace and the midfield are so slow in getting forward that he is pretty well expected to do it alone. With a decent striker in front of him he will shine big time. It won't be with us though imo.

Signing Tex would be a fantastic move - most skilful player we've had since Vicente, IMHO - and ten(?) years younger! Agree that the chances aren't great, though.

Yes so as I say, signing Tex alone is not enough. I have to ask about the strikers in the development squad. Ae they good enough or not? There are kids at 18 and 19 and early 20's who play top flight football. So are the strikers in the development squad good enough or not? I find it odd that we have had forwards who have hardly scored all season and nobody from the development squad has been tried. After all, what is there to lose?

We have never brought a quality striker though the ranks as far as I am aware, and I do mean EVER. We are pretty good at turning out Central defenders though.

I cant think of one either, but we have a development squad who have strikers. I do remember that someone told Ian Wright and Roy Keane that they were not good enough tho! If the DS strikers are 19/20 or so then they must be given a chance given the rubbish we have at the moment playing up front. After all, if a striker in the development squad is not good enough to get a game given the record of the lot we have playing up front at the moment, then when will they get a chance? I have no idea who plays up front for the DS but either give them a chance chance now or think about whether they ever will be good enough.

Shamir Fenelon (prev Goodwin) is prob the most promising, was on loan at Tranmere earlier in season and scored 2 goals in ten appearances and is currently on loan at Dagenham & Redbridge. Had hoped he'll be on fringes of first team this season, but contract is up at end of season and looks like another one that will move on.

We will spend big in our terms this summer. The mistakes of previous seasons will be corrected, Hughton did not come to make up the numbers in the lower half of the table await to be pleasantly surprised.

Partly true. Sussex produces good defenders. Tommy Cook BH&A and England and Adrian Thorne are exceptions ........a few years ago but lets hope we have some more goal scorers.

Why not Matt Smith, he is a good foil to bring in the midfield, seems to have a bit about him, with a good run in the team he could prove himself. Been around the championship and league one, scores different sorts of goals and should be affordable, right size, reasonably quick and can pick a pass, ideal in my opinion.

I know he looked good in that pub game with James Corden, but it's worth remembering, that was all set up for the show, besides, Terminator: Genisys is out later this year and they're hoping it kick starts that franchise again. It's still not definitely known what his role is, so he might be needed for sequels to that. He's also rumoured to be in the Harry Potter spin off Fantastic Beasts and where to find them, and is to appear in Pride and Prejudice and Zombies so I suspect he's too busy with his burgeoning movie career.

Lets hope we start to produce a home grown decent striker with all the money pumped into the training facilities - worrying that we have no decent young striker with our woeful forward line

That isnt entirely correctt. Yes we turned down Ian Wright when he was playing for Greenwich. It is a myth about turning down Roy Keane he came to us on trial with Paul McCarthy but weng home after a couple of days as he was homesick, he didnt complete his trial as Paul did. The then Chief Scout also turned down a recommendation of mine as being too small to make it in the pro game. That was Trevor Stevens who was a youngster at Burnley prior to playing for Everton, Monaco Rangers and England. He wasnt a striker though.ì
