Which striker/strikers would you aim to bring in this summer?

What is the fee cap that bensgrandad refers to

There is supposedly a clause in Wallace's contract which triggers transfer negotiations if an opening bid of £275k is made. If I remember correctly , the last time we tried this with a prospective signing we ended up well and truly rinsed.

I just want reassurance that CH actually has an eye for a player, especially a striker. Whilst he is in credit with Kayal as a a midfielder that is totally nullified by the waste of space that is Best. It was CH that released Martin from Norwich and look how he has done at Derby.

The club and CH have a mountain to climb with the quality of players they need to bring in this summer. I don't share most people's optimism that all will be hunky dory come kick off next season....we are so far off the pace with the current squad.

I agree with most of your comments, although maybe not quite 'a mountain to climb'. There is significant work to be done to turn us back into play off contenders. Firstly we need to tighten up the defence. While we have a decent core in midfield IMO need a playmaker to compliment a dependable striker.

I fear that strikers with a PL pedigree will be silly money, so I hope we are still looking abroad for another Ulloa. Borjan Gonzales is a good suggestion. Young enough to be hungry but still have decent potential, has a reasonable goalscoring record and at 6'3'' ought to cope with the Championship. Might just fit our budget.

I hope our budget is sufficient for a decent defender, playmaker and striker, possibly a wide player too.

It does concern me that we do not have a dedicated coach for the strikers and what this says about our priorities. So I hope that will be addressed too.

Finally it all hinges on what tactics Hughton adopts. While he is clearly a notch or two above Hyppia I do hope is he is prepared to give our strikers the support they need and secondly be positive away from home when the opportunities are there. We need to win a decent number of games to become solid play off contenders.

This on paper sounds totally unrealistic but with Spur's looking to off load Adebayor and saying they will help fund his £100,000 a week wage bill could he not be our spearhead 2015/2016 ? would sell a few season tickets as well. Just thinking of a CH / Spuds link up.
I think Spurs might be considering paying PART of his wages, but not the NEARLY ALL of his wages that would make him financially acceptable to TB! Anyway, he would consider himself a top division only player, whether here or abroad, and wouldn't drop down.

You see if spuds said they would pay 75% that would leave us with 25k a week to find. If you loose Kemy and CMS then that would be quite doable- ignoring any wage structure . I really can't see him going to another premiership club, he's 31 and past his best at the very top. The problem with him I think is that he's living on his name and would be too disruptive, so on reflection I would rather spunk the money/wages on an up and coming player from the French or German leagues, like Diego Rolan at Bordeaux .Young Uruguayan that's strong, fast and good in the air.

Does anybody on here follow eastern european countries like Romania, Bulgaria Poland plus the smaller ones like Latvia? Are there any good prospects out there.who would wish to come to England, against Nigel Farage wishes?..

Your comment about Martin is a tad wise after the event. CH probably didn't think Martin was the striker to keep Norwich in the PL, and probably had to move him out once he'd signed Hooper, RvW, etc. I suspect that he was probably right about Martin, but wrong about Hooper, RvW, etc.
There's one player that he's signed permanently for us, and Kayal is the business, and was bought on the cheap. We need to sign three central/wide forward players, and they need to be top notch. That will be the key to how to judge CH on his transfer dealings. For what it's worth, Best looks like a decent player, who's not terribly bright. He did two things yesterday that were extremely poor: he didn't close down Ruddy, when we might have got a corner out of it, or even prevent him from wasting time; he then berated the linesman. Beyond that, his movement and hold-up play yesterday which pretty good, although most people's views have been coloured by the first two things (and Best giving cause for such interpretations in earlier games).

We have been hampered by having loans although 3 are in the team now but I would look to getting permenant signings as much as possible and using the loans for what they are intended to help you out not rely on as we do with Tex and Bennett.
It's easy to say that, but loans also prove to be a supply of calibre we may not be able to afford or may not be available.

Due to the price wanted in the UK I would think they will be looking at Spain, Eastern Europe or possibly African.

I do not believe it is entirely down to the strikers but the midfield supply to them, hence I keep saying Jed Wallace at Portsmoutha. At the reported fee cap of £275k., he would be a steal.
Jed Wallace shows no sign of being plucked from League Two and seemingly, has hardly set the division alight. How much have you seen of him?

Sadly only on FL Show and Meridian News but he seems to assist most of their goals and a mate who is a Portsmouth fan, for his shame, goes into raptures about him.
