I don't know if that would be because he was feared, or because he was fencing gear. A friend of a friend source, told me he was punting knock off gear to the players on a frequent basis.

He’s French what do you expect, he’s likely to allow a bunch of bully boy roughies into the boozer in the first place and surrender immediately and then rely on the regulars from the boozer down the road to clear the pub of vermin at a latter stage!
